Home description

Joanna's Apartment sits nestling into the hillside at the foot of the Taygetos Mountains and is surrounded by shrubs and flowers simply bursting with colour. A welcome basket with a bottle of wine will be in the apartment when you arrive.From your large terrace you will enjoy stunning views of the sea, looking over Kalamata Bay towards Messinia and in the evening stunning, romantic sun sets will capture your heart.
This location is ideal for those who wish to paint or refine photography skills as well as those who enjoy walking and hiking. Cookery classes are very much on the menu if you choose, as is history and culture, and of course relaxation!
A fold up bed can be added for a fifth person.
Because of the steps and the balcony area, it is not recommended for very young children.

The Peloponnese region

The Peloponnese has a variety of landscapes, perfect for the budding artist or photographer to capture and some lovely walks in stunning surroundings. This idyllic peninsula of the mainland is embedded with cultural monuments, with medieval castles, churches and monasteries.
The landscape is very dramatic with rugged moutainous back drops, which during the winter and early spring has snow covered peaks. A beautiful contrast to the warm, blue- green sea below where the locals swim all year round.

Kalamata / Avia area

Kalamata is a bubbling town on the Gulf of Messinia, with a new cosmopolitan marina where you can charter boats if you so wish. The marina is surrounded by an extensive choice of tavernas which caters for all tastes. Every summer cultural events like concerts and plays are held in the amphitheatre of Kalamata Castle.
Joannas Apartments are situated just a short drive from Kalamata, approximately ten minutes away by car, in Avia. The property sits nestling into the hillside at the foot of the Taygetos Mountains and is surrounded by shrubs and flowers simply bursting with colour. From this elevated position you will enjoy stunning views over the Bay of Messinia. The magnificent sun sets you will see from your terrace will be forever etched into your memory.
Joannas Apartments are suitable for families( with older children), couples and singles who are seeking to experience the real beauty of Greece and the warmth of her people.

How to get there

• During the summer season there are direct charter flights into Kalamata airport on Sundays only. These flights are available from Newcastle, Manchester, East Midlands, Birmingham and London. (Other European countries also run charter flights). Car Hire can then be arranged for collection at Kalamata Airport, or a taxi to take you to your apartment. Car hire is recommended for your stay.

• Scheduled flights go daily to Athens airport from most large airports. (Olympic, British Airways, Easy Jet etc.) There are many car hire companies situated within the airport and collection is simple. My advice would be to pre-book as it will be a better price. A list of companies is available on request.

• From Athens to Kalamata by road takes between three and three and a half hours and is a straight forward route. The first half is Motorway, over Corinth Canal, and the rest is the equivalent of A roads. A further stretch of motorway is due to open this year. Directions will be forwarded if you request them.

• There is a coach to Kalamata from Athens with a connecting bus from the airport. Again, details will be provided on request.

• A taxi can be arranged from Athens to Kalamata and will cost approximately 150 euro each way. Not bad value when there are four of you. Car hire can then be arranged locally in Kalamata.

Inside the apartment there is one bedroom with a double bed and in the open plan living area there is a large sofa bed. The well equipped kitchen and dining area is slightly elevated with a dining table and chairs, although in the summer months I suspect all eating will be through the large patio doors outside on the large terrace. Here, there is also a table and chairs. Inside there is also a shower room. Bed linen and towels will be changed twice a week. Beach towels are not provided
For those staying for a longer period of time there is use of a washing machine.

Further details outdoors:
From the secure parking area you follow the stone steps to the front door of the apartment. If you continued down the steps a little further you will arrive at your large terrace where there is a patio table and chairs for al fresco dining. There is plenty of room here for you to dry towels etc after a day at the beach . Guests are also welcome to use the beautiful shared garden area.

There will be a welcome pack provided with beer in the fridge and a bottle of wine.
Joanna, the owner of the apartment has lived in Australia and speaks fluent English. When about she will answer any questions and give guidance if required. Both Joanna and her husband speak fluent German. Please enquire about any specific activities you have in mind.

Conditions

20% of total amount payable on booking. Please take out holiday insurance in case you should need to cancel and claim deposit from them.

Outstanding balance to be paid in full 4 weeks before first day of holiday.

If you have made a last minute booking, then alternative payment arrangements will be made.

Nightly / weekend pricing is available on request. Arrangements can be made for alternative accommodation should this apartment not be available. These include 2 and 1 bedroom apartments as well as studio accommodation.

If you require any special provisions for your stay, please contact well in advance and then your needs can be accommodated wherever it is reasonably possible. Any additional costs incurred to be paid before start of holiday unless otherwise agreed.

You are responsible for booking flights, hire cars. We will provide helpful information where we can to make your journey as smooth and enjoyable as possible. We are not responsible for any other part of your holiday other than your accommodation
