Villa | 3 bedrooms | sleeps 6
This charming villa is exclusively located on the idyllic Kalamaki Peninsula within 2 car minutes of the beaches and all amenities. Furnished to a high standard, its most striking features are its two terraces with breath-taking sea views, perfect for enjoying meals al fresco, relaxing and sun-bathing, as well as its private swimming pool (6 m x 10 m) overlooking the bay.
The electric awning over the larger terrace is pleasant for children to sit under and splash in the kiddy-pool provided.
The lovely interior, with newly tiled floors, is held in soothing pastell colors. The airy, spacious living room offers access to the the large terrace through several french doors. The new, well equipped, open-plan kitchen with marble work-tops has a dining area for 6 people.
All 3 twin bedrooms have air-conditioning, reversible to heating in the cool season. Each bedroom has access to at least one terrace. In the spring of 2014, both bathrooms/WC have been rebuilt, beautifully retiled and appointed with all new appliances.
Skiathos offers more than sixty beautiful, clear water, sandy beaches, many of which have colorful tavernas with excellent fresh cooking. We especially recommend Arkos Island, just a boat hop from the Vassilis' boat yard at the end of the airport runway.
There are water sports for all tastes, as well as horse-back riding and tennis.
The town has many shops, cafés, excellent tavernas as well a lively night-life.
Enjoy a day-trip to neighboring Alonissos or Skopelos, where parts of "Mama Mia" were filmed, or a charter around the island to visit Kastro Beach with its ruins and the famous "Lalaria" arch.

About this location
The Sporades region
Skiathos lies in the middle of the north western Aegean, to the west of Skopelos, and is probably the most cosmopolitan and well-known of the three main Sporades islands. Like Skopelos and Alonissos, the island is covered in pine forests and olive groves which reach down to the sea shore and the many beautiful beaches to be found on this island.
Skiathos town is built on the slopes of two hills and has the traditional island architecture of a port town, with much of the original architecture being replaced by more modern buildings. The main street, Papadiamanti, leads up from the port gates to the top of the town and is full of tourist shops, bars and restaurants, with the small peninsula of Bourtzi separating the commercial harbour from the old port with its line of café bars and tavernas.
Today, the main economy of the island is reliant on tourism with some islanders working with such products as oil, grapes, cereals, fruit and vegetables. Unfortunately, the main occupation of the past years – shipbuilding – has now disappeared and the famous “skaria” are now a thing of the past although there is a small shipyard still operating close to the port.
Skiathos has its own airport accepting flights from many European destinations as well as the UK and visitors to Skopelos and Alonissos can take a car ferry, catamaran or hydrofoil for their onward journey. The island, has good public transport with a regular bus service between the port and Koukonaries, calling at all the beaches on the way.
The exclusiv Kalamaki Peninsula was the idyllic area first sought out by british ex-pats, to build their summer houses on. It lies at the southern most point of Skiathos Island and has a private road leading all round and offering splendid panoramic views. The houses are nestled in the hill sides coverd with old olive and pine trees, enjoying total privacy and peace.
The area used to serve as hunting grounds for the locals in the old days and still today we see pheasant families and hares dashing into the shrubbery. On the eastern side of Kalamaki lies Kanapitsa beach, with its lovely sea view taverna and excellent food. Here one can also rent a boat to cross over to the small island of Tsougria. The western side offers Vromolimos Beach which is perfect for families, as the water slant is gradual, and very popular with young people for its hip beach taverna with good food and music. This beach also offer many watersports.
The 'Bourtzi' is the small wooded peninsular between the old port and the new ferry harbour. During the summer, the local council arrange a series of cultural events here and tickets for these events can be purchased from the tourist information booth nearby.
The Bourtzi consists of a beautiful old stone building, an open air theatre and a traditional coffee shop. Exhibitions are held in the main building whilst the open air theatre has performances of such things as concerts, plays and traditional Greek shadow theatre. The cafe, with its sea and harbour backdrop, hosts many live music evenings throughout the summer.
