House | 9 bedrooms | sleeps 18
'Maine Lafont' is a beautiful rural retreat set in about five acres of private gardens and idyllic countryside, overlooking a lake with mature woodland beyond. The properties are steeped in history, being primarily 15th century and consist of a large 'main' house, with smaller stables and barns built around two courtyards. The building has been painstakingly restored inside and out over a ten year period, retaining its character, whilst subtly incorporating luxury mod cons.
Entering the property though the main entrance, you pass though a courtyard and then an entrance way, before arriving in the spacious living area. The main living area comprises a large, multi level space, with areas for relaxing, eating, drinking and playing. This leads off to a separate kitchen, with everything you could need for preparing your holiday banquets! A second living room offers a slightly more cosy space to chill out in..
The remainder of the house is labyrinth of intrigue, housing ten bedrooms in total, including seven en-suites and bathrooms. All are individually decorated, with an abundance of charm and features.
Outside, the property is surrounded by gardens and magnificent views. A terrace offers the perfect location for enjoying a BBQ on the long summer days, or the swimming pool is a perfect spot to cool down from the heat of the summer, with plenty of sun loungers if you want to relax. There is even a vegetable garden to help you along with your evening meal! All of which overlooks a beautiful valley and lake.
The property is managed by 'Le Manoir de Longeveau' located a ten minute drive from Le Maine Lafont. We are on hand, should you require any assistance during your stay. Guests staying at Le Maine Lafont will benefit from all of the services and facilities offered at the Longeveau estate, including the bar & restaurant, 9 hole golf course, tennis courts, crèche and 'Salle de Soins' (treatment room) with its range of massages and treatments for you to indulge in!

The Poitou-Charentes/Vendee region
The region is known for it's great climate with sun drenched summers, rolling green hills and valleys as far as you can see, plus all the history you could ever need. The food and drink is superb and the people are welcoming. The area is a paradise for wine lovers who may wish to visit the numerous chateaux and wine caves on the Bordeaux wine trail.
Maine Lafont is located close to the Charente / Dordogne border in a beautiful valley in rural South West France. The local village is a sleepy little place called Juignac. The picturesque old Roman town of Aubeterre, which was recently voted one of the prettiest villages in France, is only a ten minute drive away. Discover the 12th century subterranean church carved out of the rock or enjoy a drink on the village square with it's variety of shops, eateries and museums, all overlooked by a 1,000 year old chateau. Alternatively walk down to the river beach for a swim, relax or a bite to eat.
The market town of Riberac (20 mins) has one of the biggest markets in France! The capital towns of Angouleme and Perigueux (45 mins) offer a wider and more sophisticated range of shops in a typically French setting. Brantome, nicknamed the 'Venice of Perigord' is well worth a visit at a similar distance. Also within easy reach are towns such as St. Emilion, Bergerac, Cognac and Bordeaux, all famous for their wines and spirits and equally beautiful places to visit.
Local activities range from walking, sight seeing, tree climbing, canoeing, cycling, fishing, or even jet–skiing and quad biking to name but a few. Wine tasting and degustation are of course a staple part of the French experience! There are a variety of local festivals, fetes and firework displays that take place throughout the summer in the local villages and towns. These are aimed at all ages and generally take place between the months of June and September.
Children will find plenty to occupy themselves and their families with activities ranging from crazy golf, horse riding and tree top adventure's to daytrip's to the popular attractions of Aqualand Water Park, La Palmyre Zoo and Futuroscope. Longeveau is fortunate to have a number of very good restaurants in the area, ranging from cafés to fine dining. As with everything, our staff will be happy to recommend or help you with decisions.
