Home description
This former farmhouse is located in the small hamlet of Le Tremblay, a cluster of old stone houses attractively situated on the edge of a wooded valley. About a mile away is the typical French village of Megrit with church, bakery, bar and shop. There are several colour coded signposted circuits for walkers and the area is ideal for cycling. The picturesque lakeside town of Jugon Les Lacs is a short drive away where sailing boats, windsurfers, canoes and pedalos can be hired. A path runs all the way round the lake and bikes can also be hired. There is also a heated swimming pool.
The historic medieval town of Dinan with its half timbered houses and historic castle and port is a 20 minute drive away. The Cote D'Emeraude with its rugged coastline and beautiful beaches is about half an hour away. Mont St. Michel is a most enjoyable day trip as are the towns of Fougeres, Vitre and Rennes. Paris can be reached by high-speed train link from the station at Lamballe in about 3 hours.

The Brittany / Cotes-D'Armor region
Brittany is an area of breathtaking natural beauty. The long coastline is a seemingly endless succession of rocky headlands, wild cliffs, island studded bays and beautiful sandy beaches. Inland is equally attractive. Fairytale castles, historic towns and ancient megaliths are sprinkled through the gentle hilly countryside. A wide variety of interests are well catered for , including golf, fishing, all sorts of watersports, hiking and cycling. The region is easily accessible from the UK with ferry ports at St Malo , Roscoff , Caen or Cherbourg and with Ryanair providing very low cost flights to Dinard.
Jugon les Lacs area
Jugon Les Lacs is a pretty town only a couple of miles away from our house at Megrit, or about 20 minutes drive from Dinan. It stands at the end of a lake where sailing boats, canoes and pedaloes can be hired. A number of good restaurants can also be found in the town. A little further afield are the sandy beaches and rugged headlands of the Cote D'Emeraude which can be reached in about 35 minutes. Further inland is La Hunaudaye , a beautiful moated castle partly ruined but retaining its medieval grandeur. Close by is the Ferme D'Antan a reconstructed Breton farm offering a fascinating glimpse back in time and a chance to experience authentic Breton farm life. Also within easy driving distance is St Malo, a jewel of a town which has risen again after being all but destroyed during the last war. The old town is surrounded by ramparts which offer stunning views out over the sea and gives access to several delightful sandy beaches. Close by is Dinard , one of the oldest tourist resorts in France. It offers elegant architecture, fine restaurants, a beautiful long sandy beach and a casino. A little further away is Mont St Michel ,a renowned world heritage site, standing proudly on a rocky island which is cut off from the mainland by the fast flowing tides. The church and monastery are truly unique and repay a visit early in the day to avoid the crowds. There is a good number of excellent golf courses a short drive away from the gite, including Dinard (founded in 1887), St Malo, Pen Guen (St Cast) and Sables D'Or at Cap Frehel. Perhaps the best course is located at Pléneuf Val André, which should be on every golfers 'must play' list. As the language can sometimes be a barrier , we can liaise with the course on your behalf and book tee times for you so your golf is all arranged before you arrive.

Hi Jeremy - just e mailing to say that we had such a lovely time in your absolutely gorgeous house - a true home from home! We loved it so much that we really didn't want to leave! I think we were lucky with the weather considering how bad it has been in the UK. Thank you again. Best Wishes Sharon, Mike, Poppy and Dylan (July 2007).
'Thank you for a lovely stay yet again - we have thoroughly enjoyed the gite' (JW, August 2007).
'A sincere thank you for your hospitality and wonderful accommodation' (BW August 2006).
'A big thank you for the wonderful time that we have had at Le Tremblay' (TG/SS August 2006).
'Thank you for an extremely pleasant stay in your home' (RB).
