The Marbella Condo is the newest member to beach front developments of Group Metro. This mega project beautifully designed with apartments spread out over 3 towers reaching up to 12 floors alongside the private beach. What is the most exciting is the beach front footage of over 330 meters or 1,000 feet of frontage. To see it first hand is beautiful.

The beach area stretches for several kilometers appropriate to give a great ride in a safe environment at any time of day or night.

The San Pedro de Macoris Province region

San Pedro de Macoris, located a one hour's drive east of Santo Domingo, was founded in the late 19th century by Cubans who were fleeing their country's War of Independence. They brought their extensive sugar cane farming knowledge and contributed to making the sugar industry the most important economic activity in this area.

The city reached its peak during the first quarter of this century when sugar production enjoyed high prices on the international market as a result of the First World War. Many Europeans settled here, creating quite a cosmopolitan urban center. There was even a time when the port enjoyed more commercial activity than Santo Domingo's. A decline in sugar prices and destruction from Hurricane Georges in 1998 put the area down for a time but it has since experienced resurgence.

Today San Pedro de Macorís is a city of approximately 125,000 inhabitants and enjoys a very bustling Malecón (Oceanside boardwalk). The city has a renowned university, Universidad Central del Este , and an undisputed contribution to Major League Baseball. This town and its surrounding area have supplied the greatest number of Major League players in the world. The winter league games, held November through February, are a huge attraction at the local stadium, Estadio Tetelo Vargas .

Juan Dolio

Juan Dolio and its neighbor beach town Guayacanes are for those who seek a couples or family restful vacation but like being able to take many excursions. If you are staying in Juan Dolio, you are equidistant from the culture, shopping and dining and nightlife of Santo Domingo, great beaches, scuba diving and other attractions in La Romana, and just half an hour away from busy and crowded Boca Chica. The small towns of Guayacanes and Juan Dolio are following the shoreline.

Juan Dolio has a boulevard and a main street where most hotels and restaurants are located. So you can walk, jog or cycle in safety here. This destination is perfect for those looking for a quiet escape with the comforts of home.

What else is nearby

Almost anywhere you could possibly want to go is accessible from the coastal highway which cuts through the town of Juan Dolio and follows the shoreline. Villas Del Mar is an area of Juan Dolio where many restaurants and all-inclusive hotels are located. Going west from Juan Dolio you’ll find the fishing village/beach town of Guayacanes, then the pretty cove-like beach of Playa Caribe, followed by Boca Chica about 20 minutes from Juan Dolio. Santo Domingo is less than a 40 minute drive to the west of Juan Dolio.

About 15 minutes further east is the baseball city of San Pedro de Macoris, home town of Sammy Sosa. Shopping is good in San Pedro at the Jumbo store. Another 40 minutes beyond that is the La Romana/Bayahibe area, two interesting touristic destination.

Getting around

Everybody walks in Juan Dolio. The beach road is quiet and has very little traffic.

Those seeking action can head for the area's casinos, discos, 18-hole golf course or participate in the water sports programs offered by the many large all-inclusive complexes.

The Cueva de las Maravillas should be included in every visit. Down under, browse at the very good collection of pre-Columbian art amidst spectacular stenography created with lighting against stalagmites and stalactites.

Guided tours are an excellent way to experience this region, since there are relatively few attractions within walking or busing distance. Some of the excursions available are: Jeep Safaris, Santo Domingo City Tour and Half Day Tour, Santo Domingo Night Tour, Altos De Chavon artists village/River boat ride, Cueva Fun (and its seven-kilometer long underground river), Los Haitises and the mangroves park, Saona and Catalina Island.

A reputation for excellent cuisine has taken hold in Juan Dolio and Guayacanes. Sophisticated palates can choose from a variety of fine restaurants ranging from informal to casually elegant, even a few with noteworthy wine cellars. Italian restaurants and steak and seafood abound here. Since most restaurants cater to domestic vacationers coming in from Santo Domingo, prices in Juan Dolio are attractive all year round.

Some recommended restaurants are:

El Meson (Spanish cuisine and seafood)

El Sueño (awarded international cuisine and seafood)

Paladart (ideal for breakfast)

El concón (excellent Dominican cuisine and seafood)

Cococane Beach (French cuisine)

Madera Wood Café (bar restaurant with life music during weekend)

Entertainment outside

There is nightlife primarily at the hotels but this is not what you would call a “party hearty” destination. Take time out to visit the many restaurants in the area and mingle with the crowd that lives there or commutes in from Santo Domingo, especially on weekends.

The best golf in the Boca Chica-Juan Dolio area is Los Marlins Golf and Country Club and Guavaberry Golf and Country Club, on the coastal highway not far from the Condo Marbella. 18-holes, club house, restaurant, bar, carts and equipment rentals.

We just returned from this wonderful holiday and would like to thank the owner of the apartment and his family for their kindness and hospitality. The condo Marbella is brand new, elegant, well maintained and all you hear is the sound of the sea. The apartment is bright, clean and decorated in an original and cheerful way, and has a beautiful sea view balcony. The beach is beautiful and quiet, there is a huge swimming-pool and the staff of the building is always available for every need.
I recommend this apartment for a relaxing holiday and for visiting the nearby Santo Domingo.
