About the home

Offering 4 gites in total, La Pommeraie is a 19th. century farm house, set in peaceful countryside yet only 5 mins from Jonzac.
The 12 metre pool has a large open barn adjacent which offers needed shade in the summer and also has a shower and wc. This area is ideal for large bbq's with plenty of space for 20-30 plus also having the spa and table tennis under the one roof. The long evenings make for wonderful parties by the pool and the shelter of the barn if there is a breeze.

With each gite having it's own terrace & bbq area it is possible to enjoy both the early morning sunrise for breakfast and laze away after an evening meal with a beutiful sunset.
The grounds offers lots of space for energetic activities, football, cricket, badminton, volley ball or whatever flies your kite (that too). Little ones enjoy the many toys and the sandpit along with the swing slide set which is full open view.

The Poitou-Charentes / Vendee / Charente Maritime region

Soak up the sunshine in the South West of France, and enjoy the local Pineau or Cognac. Our gites are a little haven away from the hustle and bustle of modern life but close enough for those little comforts.

We are between Cognac and Bordeaux, within easy access of Angouleme, Bordeaux and La Rochelle airports, right in the heart of the Poitou-Charentes region (easy access from the A10) and close enough to the coast for a relaxed day trip.

The Charente Maritime region has a lot to offer, with plenty to do and see nearby. We are in easy reach of Cognac, St Emillion, Bordeaux and La Rochell.

Many interesting villages nearby including St Savinien,on the River Charente which has a boating lake popular with adults & children, kayaking hire on the River, bike hire & walks and many excellent local restaurants from family-friendly to gourmet restaurants.

Superb clean sandy beaches at St Georges de Didon just 45 mins easy drive and the Island of Ile d'Oloron (ideal for good surfing and/or wind-surfing)

The Jonzac / Champagnac area

A perfect base to "chill out" and relax from the outside world, read, swim,relax, an ideal area also for walking and cycling (bring your own bikes or hire them locally in the village). Horse-riding is also popular locally just 2kms away for both the beginner or more experienced rider and treks can be arranged in advance.

Jonzac (3 kms) is a stunning medieval town, with an imposing 15th-century château and offering a number of shops, bars etc and 3 supermarkets to ease the search for food and drink. In addition it has thermal baths offering extensive treatments, and a swimming complex with a water slide, tropical lagoon, wave pool, bubble spas and saunas, indoor and outdoor pools, as well as offering various beauty and relaxation treatments.

Next door is the Casino for thoses wishing to have a flutter. The "Bas Du Loisir" at Jonzac offers sailing, swimming in the lake (With life guard) and many attractions including archery, rope walk etc., plus and excellent restaurant (BBQ style).

During the summer there is a "Marche Nocturne" every Wednesday evening complete with live entertainment, an ideal way to sample some of the local delicacies, a Pineau and maybe a little Cognac as well.

Hot air ballooning is very popular in the early morning or late afternoon/evening for the more adventurous why not book a ride and take off from our gardens!

By car using cross channel ferry ports or Euro Tunnel, then only a 4 to 7 hours drive depending on port.
