The Bali/Lesser Sunda Islands region

This area is still not too commercialised, the local town has several supermarkets, French patisserie and restaurants, there is also the local cultural park where several restaurants are located, here you can sit and see the panoramic view. Then just down the road is Uluwata Temple where you can see the sun set and meet the local native monkeys! (don't leave your sunglasses on your head, they could be taken)

The climate is tropical.

High humidity during the wet season between October - April. The dry season between May - September low humidity. Daily rain and overcast days between December - February. Occasionally rain during the dry season but normally during the night or early morning.

Most of the festivities are religious, some dates for 2013

Galungan - Honours the Ancestors - 27th March. Nyepi- Balinese New Year 12th March. Kuningan - 6th April. Saraswati - 10th August. Pagerwesi 14th August.

The surrounding area is rural, there are small holdings and you are on a hillside. if you are looking for something different this could be your Nirvana.

Hire a taxi for the day and go in land to Ubud, the arts and crafts area, see the rice terraces and Taman Ayun the royal family temple or Kintamani Volcano.
