The Andalucia region

Historic real Spain charm. There are well marked walking routes in the Sierras Almijara, Tejeda & Pena Escrita National Parks & a short drive will bring you to Los Dos Rios, a stunning river with waterfalls and lagoons to swim in.The historic city of Granada, the Alhambra Palace, and skiing in the Sierra Nevada are all within a 50 min drive. There are few places in the world where you can ski in the morning then head to the coast for a swim in the afternoon, but the proximity of Sierra Nevada to the Med allows this. Don't be fooled into thinking that the skiing will be second rate either. 20 lifts serve 100 km of piste.

Jete is well placed to visit the wonderful coastal towns of Almunecar, Salobrena and La Herradura.

The charming town of Nerja is only a 25 minute drive, with its world famous caves on the out skirts of town.

A drive from Jete, up the old road ( N4050 ) Suspiro del moors, to Granada is wonderful, up through the mountains with the most fantastic views and scenery, on to the plains and through the pine forests.

Orgiva and the spa town of Lanjaron in the Alpujarras ( driving over lemons ) are nearby. A day trip to Gibraltar makes a great day out.

There is a Golf course just down the coast at Motril.

Situated in the middle of the Tropical Valley surrounded by mountains, with avocado, mango, nispero & cherimoya trees, Jete is well placed to visit the wonderful coastal town of Almunecar,. Jete has a charm all of its own, a typical andalusian village, (still has working donkeys) a pharmacy, banks with cash points, bakeries, supermarket, shops and a local market on Thursdays. Bars & Restaurants serve free tapas with your drinks. Recommend, Bar Madera, Buena Vista and the renowned Capriccios in near by Otivar that all have excellent menus & fantastic views. A municipal pool with terraces, sun beds & bar.

Almunecar has several beaches with beach bars, a varied amount of restaurants. A daily market for fresh fish and meat and a large weekly market on Fridays.the old town and its castle are lovely. it has a Aqua Park with wave pools & slides a good day out.

Tandem Para sailing, down the valley, climbing, cannoning, scuba diving, Horse riding and guided walks are all on offer by local company's.

"Excellent value and a lovely traditional house"

We (Me, my wife and 15yr old daughter) have recently returned after a weeks stay in Casa Lynda in Jete and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone looking for the real Spain. On arrival there were supplies already in the property such as milk, water, fruit, a few beers and a bottle of Cava. The house is in a lovely village surrounded by friendly Spanish families and two minutes walk from the main road from between Otivar (further up the valley) and Almunecar (on the coast). Hire car is essential and reasonably priced in Almunecar. There are buses up and down the valley but I think they were few and far between.

Casa Lynda was immaculately clean and prepared when we arrived and is a beautiful old traditional house. As you walk in on the ground floor there is a small lounge area and the kitchen with a small table to eat around. Windows from the kitchen look onto the alleys around and Spanish villagers often say 'Hola' as they are passing by. The first floor has a long shower room with toilet and is next door to a double room with balcony and window. The second floor is a similar layout with a twin room. Finally the stairs lead up to a lovely roof terrace with views over the rooftops and mountains surrounding the valley. We spent many evenings stargazing, satellite spotting and even had a few shooting stars! Whilst sipping wine on the roof terrace.

We have stayed in Otivar before and as before found David Williams (management) extremely helpful and always on hand to offer advice about the local area.

Casa Lynda is ideally situated to see most of the area being only 15 minutes from the Almunecar and the coast and a few minutes to Otivar. I also thoroughly recommend the trip up the valley to the Punta del dos rios, which is a series of waterfalls created by two merging rivers. This can be driven to and you pay 5E per person and get to navigate your way up the river's course. For the brave there are leaps and jumps into the lagoons. You can also book more adventurous navigations with local companies.

All in all we had a very enjoyable time in Casa Lynda and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone, friends and family.
