The Costa de la Luz / Cadiz Province region
The Costa de la Luz (Coast of Light) is in the southernmost region of Andalucia, between Gibraltar and Cadiz. It is a region that has miles of clean, sandy beaches, protected national parks, acres of countryside and many traditional pueblo blancos (white villages). It is an area that has escaped the excesses of tourism and commercialism and instead has retained a traditional Spanish feel.
The region will appeal to everyone whether you want to explore the Moorish architecture to be found in Jerez, visit Tarifa to enjoy the water sports and its kite-surfing beaches, cycle the Via Verde, play golf or spend your days in the Parque de los Alcornocales. Fo the more adventurous, Tarifa is known as the gateway to Africa and Tangier is 35 minutes on a regular fast ferry service. Jerez is connected by rail to Seville (1 hour) and Cadiz (20 minutes).
