Jerez is a beautiful Andalucian city of many small and large squares and combines the friendly, relaxed, leisurely way of life of a small town with the cultural sophistication of an ancient city. Because of the apartments location - in the heart of the city - it is ideal for families, couples, golfers and people who do not wish to drive.
You won’t find the huge hotels and nightclubs of the Costa del Sol here. Instead, in Jerez you’ll find a lot of good, local cafés and bars, lively night life, sports such as golf, horse riding, car racing and motorcycle racing, and a range of cultural events that’s truly astounding - sherry bodegas, equestrian events, flamenco dance, colourful religious festivals. Jerez is a major centre for them all. It’s a wonderful place. Everyone who visits Andalucía loves it.

The Costa de la Luz / Cadiz Province region
The 11th century Moorish fortress, known as the Alcazaa, along with a beautiful 18th century church, are highlights of Jerez. Also of special interest are the hundreds of bodegas which are home to some of the finest sherries in the world. The Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art, where you can see the dancing horses training, is also worth seeing. Wandering through the city’s charming boulevards and squares is a pleasant way to spend a day. Take in the fortress along with the adjoining pretty San Miguel Square. The impressive Archaeological Museum has palaeolithic finds up to the 18th century; while the Clock Museum contains an amazing array of over 300 clocks. For the children Jerez has one of the largest Zoo's in Spain. A tour of one of the bodegas, where you are shown the lengthy production process of sherry and can sample the final product, is highly recommended.
Jerez de la Frontera area
Jerez is just 20 min from the ancient port of Cadiz by train, and 12 km by local bus or train to El Puerto Santa Maria, one of many nearby natural beaches on the Costa de la Luz, and well worth a visit.
Jerez is well known for its sherries, horses, fiestas and flamenco dancing. It is a picturesque town of wide boulevards and squares loaded with fine Gothic and baroque architecture, and a fabulous Moorish history.
Golf courses (the nearest one is a 10 mins drive), the Grand Prix Circuit and the mountain villages are within easy reach. Rental cars are readily available and inexpensive. The apartment is an excellent, central base for exploring the town, the Province of Cadiz or the whole Andalucia region.
How to get there
- Jerez has a modern local airport . - Regular Ryanair flights into and out of Stansted and Manchester Airports. - Gibraltar airport has regular Monarch flights into and out of Luton Airport. - The taxi ride from Jerez Airport to the apartment costs about 12 euros.
- Gibraltar and Seville Airport is about an hour’s trip by train or car, and is serviced by British Airways and others.
- Local taxis available from Jerez Airport - fare should be no more than 15 euros.
- Car hire available from www.carjet.com- pick up and return from the airport.
- Local buses run regularly between the airport and the town.
