Home description
The property is set in it's own grounds with a patio/bbq area and a large lawn ideal for lazing away the summer evenings with a glass of wine and a book. Set on the edge of one the national forest's of our area, minutes away from one the many designated walks.
At La Ferte Mace there is a large lake with sandy beaches and water activities. Market day, Thursday. The spa town of Bagnoles de l'Orne ( spa treatments available) with its unique style of houses, lake, shops and restaurants together with; swimming, fishing, golf etc is a must to visit.

The Normandy / Orne region
The climate of our area is of long ago forgotten summer days of clear blue skies and warm summer evenings.
The region offers many places of interest, first and formost is Mayenne, where the region gets its name from the river that runs through the centre. In the centre of the town there is the old castle of Mayenne next to the river where you can fish or hire boats. Plenty of shops and restaurants.
Alencon is another beautiful town, centre of the lace making trade with a lace museum, a castle to visit and shops to enjoy.
Javron les Chapelles area
The gite is two minutes away from the small village of St Aignan with local restaurant, bar and garage.
Lassay Les Chateau; the quaint old town featuring a medieval chateau. tours are available through the summer months.
Villaines is also a short drive away for the nearest large supermarket and shops. Market day is Monday.

Portsmouth - Caen by catamaran 3 hrs 45 mins. By ferry 5 hrs 45 mins. Overnight 7 hrs. Portsmouth - Cherbourg by catamaran 3 hrs. Portsmouth - St Malo overnight 10 hrs 45 mins. Poole - Cherbourg by catamaran 2 hrs 15 mins. By ferry 6 hrs 30 mins. Overnight 6 hrs 30 mins.
Eurotunnel;
Folkestone - Calais approx every 40 mins, crossing takes about 35 mins.
Airports;
Standstead - Nantes approx 1 hr 15 mins. Car hire available at airport, travel time approx 3 hrs to gite. Standstead - Dinard approx 1hr 10 mins. Care hire available at airport, travel time approx 2 hrs 15 mins.

In addition to the high chair, there is a travel cot ( age up to a 5 year old), baby bath and changing mat. There are four steps up to the kitchen. An electric coal effect fire is also in the lounge.

Refundable deposit of £50 against breakages is required.
During the colder months, an additional fuel charge of £5 per day is payable.
