The Costa Blanca / Valencia / Alicante Province region

Javea on the Costa Blanca has a choice of beaches for those seeking water sports such as wind surfing, jet biking or sailing. The warm seas are perfect for diving, snorkeling and water skiing. Go-karting and quad- biking are also available. The Costa Blanca has many renowned golf courses with 9 hole courses in Javea ,Moiraira and Altea and an 18 hole internationally renowned course at La Sella (Denia) and the Seve Balesteros designed course at Oliva both around 30 minutes away. There are also very good courses at Valencia and Alicante, in particular the famous 18-hole championship links course at El Saler, for those who don’t mind a drive before a round. There are many other sporting activities with football, tennis, bowls etc- you name it and it's never too far away. Apart from the sporting activities there is plenty for the kids to do should they get bored with the swimming pool and beaches. Less than 30 minutes away there are many attractions for all ages including a Safari Park, 'Mundomar' an Animal Water Park, 'Aqualandia' a theme Swimming Park and 'Terra Mitica' a large Fun Park, boasting some of the largest rides in Europe.
The Javea / Cap de la Nao area
Javea has it all : sandy beaches, great restaurants and bars, authentic Spanish culture, a lovely old town, a bustling port -altogether a place you will want to return to year after year. Bathed by the Mediterranean sea and sheltered from the continental winds by Mount Montgo,it is no wonder that the World Health Organization selected Javea as having a near-perfect climate for longevity. Although Javea is cosmopolitan it is still Spanish without a high-rise package tour hotel in sight.
Cap de la Nao, a local beauty spot with lighthouse and nature reserve is a very green and sought-after area. This stunning scenic headland is Spain’s most easterly point and on a clear day it is possible to see all the way to Ibiza over 100 km’s away.It offers many beautiful walks with several viewing points which, without exception, provide breathtaking views of the cliffs and coves allowing access to the crystal clear waters of the Mediterranean. These idyllic bays of la Granadella, la Barraca and Ambolo are ideal for swimming, snorkeling and diving and most have beach bars and restaurants. Less than 5 minutes drive are the lively beach areas of the Arenal with the port and old town beyond.

What a disappointment!! Uncared for and certainly not value for money. It wasn't the best introduction to the villa. Billed as next to a local beauty spot, directly opposite the gate were four huge refuse skips (one being a bottle bank). On entering the premises, our hearts really sank. Words like basic, unwelcoming, characterless all came to mind. Obviously a purely rental property –half-hearted maintenance and house-keeping both inside and out. Our list of complaints is endless but to name only a few - - ill fitting and makeshift kitchen fittings, cracked and chipped crockery and congealed food on table mats; - broken light bulbs, ring marked tables, cobweb covered lights and radiators, burst cushion covers, ill fitting window frames and broken locks; - basic bedroom to say the least with old, over washed and, unattractive bedding (stained bed spreads in single room); - garden full of litter, immediately across the road from the afore mentioned skips which were emptied and replaced every morning (including the bottle bank); - one of the selling points was that the villa was near to a local beauty spot. The car park for this was only a few yards across the road from the garden and pool. Hence, constant cars pulling up, doors slamming, children crying, shouting sightseers and loud music, certainly not conducive to relaxing at the pool at any time of day. We most certainly would not consider this to be a” luxury” villa and would suggest the photographs on the website did not give an accurate indication of the property, especially of the bedrooms. Most definitely one to avoid if you want to experience the sense of living in someone else's home and capturing the Spanish lifestyle, and certainly NOT if peace, quiet and privacy is a priority. PS. We had asked if, like many other holiday rentals, there was a reduction for under occupancy and late booking. We were told NO as it cost to as much to “prepare” the house for two as for six or eight. We certainly did not get an impression that much effort had been put into any preparation. In fact it seemed as though the house had been closed up for the winter months and hastily opened up just before we arrived, spare rooms resembling prison cells with no bedspreads on the beds etc. One last point, most owners go out their way to provide local information – there was one free map of the Jalon Valley. |
