In the summer weeks, change-over day is Saturday when you are requested to leave by 10am to allow time to prepare for the next party. In the low season, we offer flexible changeover and short term breaks.
The rental charge covers gas, water, electricity, laundry and cleaning of the villa. All linen, sheets, towels, etc. are provided and the only items you need to take are beach towels. Naturally, items belonging to the villa should not be removed and any breakages paid for.
We require a 20% deposit to secure your reservation, the balance being due 8 weeks before the start of your holiday. Then you will be sent directions on how to reach the villa, a plan of the area, and keys.
The Costa Blanca / Valencia / Alicante Province region
The region is extremely varied with long stretches of sandy coast to the north while the immediate area around Javea offers a more rugged coastline with a beautiful well protected sandy beach. The Cabo de la Nao just to the south of Javea is the eastern most point of the region and has numerous rocky coves with mainly pebble beaches and crystal clear waters.
There is a coastal mountain range (snowcapped from time to time during the winter months) which gives way to olive and almond groves and cherry orchards on the lower slopes. The coastal plain is mainly cultivated with orange and lemon plantations.
The climate is generally mild, Javea enjoys in excess of 320 sunshine days per year. The summer months benefit from a cooling onshore breeze and the winters are very mild, the coast being protected to a large extent by the mountain range.
The cuisine is another major bonus, with (affordable) good food available everywhere, as well as more expensive restaurants offering haute cuisine. Excellent local produce can be found at the markets for those wishing to self-cater.
The Javea / Costa Nova area
The historic town of Javea is slightly set back from the coast and is a typical small Moorish-style town with narrow blind-alley streets and white-washed houses, and has a truly Spanish feel. There is a central covered market and several small tapas bars and boutiques can be found in the surrounding streets. there is also a weekly open-air market in the Plaza de la Constitucion.
The port of Javea is still a working fishing port and provides a mixture of fishing vessels, luxury yachts and sea-front bars, cafes and restaurants. There are two very attractive pebble beaches, one in the port itself and the other at the marina end of the port. The latter is called Tango beach, it is tiny, but in a beautiful setting and stays relatively quiet. It is a great place for snorkelling, and there is a bar and restaturant on the beach so you can make a day of it.
The Arenal beach is a beautiful crescent-shaped beach with a promenade lined with bars, cafes and restaurants. The beach is sandy, safe, and offers a wide range of activities to keep people of all ages amused. In the summer months there are volley-ball nets, climbing frames, water-rafts, pedalloes and play-centres for the under-eights, as well as access into the sea for wheelchair users. The sea is rarely rough, and you have to wade a long way out to be out of your depth, so it is perfect for younger children. Lifeguards are on hand throughout the summer, as are Red Cross first-aid volunteers to cope with the occasional mishap. The beach is kept clean by the local council which does a big beach-sweep early in the morning.
For water sports such as jet-skiing, water-skiing and wind-surfing take a stroll from the Arenal towards the port, past the Parador Hotel to the Montanar, a 1km stretch of sandstone beach which joins the Arenal and Port areas.
In the port area you will find Javea's sailing club "Club Nautico" and the Javea sailing school.
For scuba divers, or would-be scuba divers, there is the Javea Sub-Aqua Club which offers lessons for beginners and escourted trips for qualified divers. The climate and crystal-clear waters make diving an exhiliarating experience - there are under-water arches, walls, and caves to explore; giant clams, sea urchins, octopus and a whole world of Mediterranean marine life.
Golf is available at the Club de Golf Javea (10 minutes drive), and the Club de Golf La Sella (15 minutes drive). Both have a swimming pool, squash and tennis courts as well as bar and restaurant facilities.
There are numerous tennis courts in the area, some just a few hundred meters from the villa. There is also a tennis club near the Arenal beach.
There are a number of good walks that vary in degree of difficulty but are fairly easy to follow. Maps are available from the tourist office, and a selection is usually to hand at the villa.
Bicycles can be rented in the port area, and there is also a very good local cycling club who welcome visitors.
There is live music all-year round but Javea's nightlife really takes off in July and August when there is non-stop nighttime entertainment, mainly based around the Arenal beach to keep the young - and the young at heart - happy until the early hours. Many of the bars and restaurants also offer live music and shows, including Flamenco evenings.
Depending upon what time of year you intend to visit you may well get a chance to enjoy a real Spanish fiensta. One of the mostspectacular fiestas in Javea is the Fogueres de Sant Joan in mid-June. This goes on for several days culminating in the buring of a huge papier mache effigy (a satirical representation of current political and social issues) in the Old Town.
Visit in mid-July and you will catch the elaborate Moors and Christians fiestas with colourful (and noisy!) sreet parades in the port.
In the first week of September there are yet more fiestas in the port in honour of the Virgen del Loreto. The streets will be full of running bulls, firecrackers, bands, parades, and fireworks.
