The Costa Blanca / Valencia / Alicante Province region
The Costa Blanca is at the heart of Spain's Mediterranean coast and is blessed with a marvelous climate - mild in the winter and with cooling breezes in the summer. The coastline has 170 miles of beaches, valleys of citrus groves and palm covered plains.
There is something for everyone, from typical whitewashed Spanish villages to the bustling nightlife of Alicante and Valencia. There are several scenic coves along the Costa Blanca coastline. Granadella and Portichol, with their crystal clear waters, are popular with scuba divers and snorkellers.
The Javea area
Javea (or Xabia) is situated between Cabo de La Nao and Cabo do San Antonia in the northern region of the Costa Blanca. Protected from the continental winds by the magnificent Montgo mountain barrier, Javea has a mild year round climate.
The town can be divided into 3 main parts: the Old Town, the Port and the Arenal.
Old Town
The charming old town of Javea is steeped in medieval history that has largely been preserved throughout the centuries. The Gothic fortified church of San Bartolome, which dates from the 15th century, dominates the centre of the town. The church is surrounded by a maze of narrow streets and quaint plazas, home to a number of traditional tapas bars and cafes. Next to the church is the indoor market, located in a beautiful Neo Gothic building. Local fresh produce can be bought daily from the indoor market. Every Thursday there is a vibrant, colourful outdoor market, which takes place in the market square. The local tourist office offers guided walks of the old town, outlining the rich history of the area.
The Port
Centred around Javea's harbour, the port area was formerly a fishing community. It is now bustling with shops, cafes, bars and restaurants offering fantastic views across the harbour. Perfect for sampling the local wines and fresh seafood. The modern Nautical Club at the marina has facilities for all forms of water sports. Just along from the port is the windsurfing beach, where windsurfs and jet skiis may be hired.
The Arenal
This is Javea`s beach, which boasts golden sand and inviting, warm sea. The promenade has a number of cafes, bars and restaurants providing a variety of food to suit all tastes. During the summer months, market stalls open on the promenade in the evening, selling local jewellery and handicrafts. Many of the bars have live music. There are also several nightclubs for those with more stamina!
Villa Allegre Vista is within walking distance old town of Javea. The port and Arenal beach are a 4 and 8 minute drive respectively. Within a 30 minute drive there are four golf courses, horseriding, a tennis club, various mountain walks as well as watersports activities such as sailing, jet skis and windsurfing.
