Home description
Our home, "Kaze no fuku ki", sits high on a gently sloping hillside in a quiet residential area with fantastic views of Javea town, the bay, Mongo mountain and the mountain ranges to the west. The Arenal with its wide sandy beach and a host of excellent restaurants, bars and cafes is just a few minutes away.
The private pool has child friendly roman steps leading to the shallow end and is complemented by a large terrace for relaxing in the sun, a bar under the natural canopy of a Mediterranean pine tree and expansive, mature gardens. Have breakfast on the naya (wide covered veranda) enjoying the views, lunch at the pool bar and dinner under a large olive tree in the walled Spanish courtyard where there is a built in BBQ, all on the secluded gounds of your own private villa.

The Costa Blanca / Valencia / Alicante Province region
Our villa is in Javea (Xabia), a traditional Spanish town on the Mediterranean 'Costa Blanca' coast. It is approximately half way between Valencia and Alicante.... one hours drive from either city/airport and the closest point on mainland Spain to the Balearic Islands. The area is about as far north as the Moors settled in the first millenium...evidence of this can be seen in the architecture here. Valencia is Spain's 3rd largest city and has undergone a bit of a renaissance during the last decade. It now boasts modern museums and galleries as well as many historic sites. It is home to one of Europe's leading football teams and Valencia recently hosted the America"s Cup sailing competition. Alicante has also been revamped and has a wonderful corniche along the Mediterranean well worth a visit. There are many small interesting towns in between, both along the coast and in the hilly interior...and with the Spanish "any excuse for a party" way of life, you are never far from a fiesta.
Javea / Cap Marti area
The bay of Javea lies between two mountainous headlands, Cabo la Nao and Cabo San Antonio. The villa is in the Cap Marti district of Javea...a hilly area on the Cabo La Nao side of Javea covered with Mediterranean pine. Cap Marti is an established villa development, probably the closest in Javea to the main beach.
Javea is a traditional Spanish town. It has not been spoilt by high-rise construction or over-development. The old town has many historical buildings set along narrow winding streets that all seem to lead to the church/market square at the centre. The town bursts into life at least once a month with the colour and noise of a Fiesta often including bull running through the streets and fireworks. Most fiestas seem to last for about a week. The port area is home to a local fishing fleet and a modern marina. It has evolved into a trendy lunch/dinner destination with its waterfront restaurants and cafe bars. Behind the sandy beach at Arenal is a another wide choice of boutiques, cafes, bars and restaurants. There are even a couple of night clubs here. All of the above is within a 10 min drive from the villa. A great deal of effort is made to ensure that Javea is kept clean and its beaches retain their Blue Flag standard. The area enjoys over 300 days of sun a year. Climatically and environmentally it's the healthiest place in Europe.
Most local beaches offer water sports including water skiing, surfing, wind-surfing, kite-surfing and diving. From the marina fishing boat and yacht charters are available. Most days enjoy fresh breezes ideal for sailing. Behind Arenal beach is a large tennis club with horse riding stables, from where you can experience a ride through the citrus groves, and there is a go-kart track nearby. There are several golf courses locally and within 30 mins drive you can visit Vergel Safari Park, Mundomar Sea World, Terra Mittica Theme Park or Aqualandia Water Park. Javea has its very own 3000ft mountain known as 'The Montgo'. The area is a nature park where one can walk or rock climb amongst local flora and fauna and enjoy incredible views across Javea, along the scenic coastline and beyond..as far as Ibiza. Alternatively you could visit Ibiza on a day trip from Denia port, a 15 minute drive away. There are other boat trips to be enjoyed, which travel up and down the coast and to nearby islands.
There are several golf courses nearby The closest being Javea and La Sella, both within 10 mins drive. In just 30 mins you could be on either Ifach or Oliva courses and its about an hour's drive to El Saler and El Bosque near Valencia or an equal distance to several courses in the Alicante area. Many of the couses listed above have been designed by the likes of Balesteros and Olazabal and play host to The Spanish Open. Most charge between Euros 50-65 per round and all have the option of walking (rental trolleys available) or using a buggy. It is advisable to bring along your handicap certificate, as this is sometimes asked for and all the courses have a dress code.
How to get there
Javea is approximately 60-75mins drive from either Alicante or Valencia airports. Both airports are served by scheduled airlines, charters and a host of low cost carriers from most UK airports...try www.skyscanner.com to find the best solution from your home airport. Car hire is plentiful and cheap at both airports...try www.doyouspain.com or www.holiday autos.co.uk to locate the car you need. We can organize taxis to/from either airport. from a local Javea firm....works out to about Euro 25 pp each way (min fare Euro 100 or 4 persons).
