The Costa Blanca / Valencia / Alicante Province region
Costa Blanca is one of the finest areas in the Spanish Mediterranean coast. It belongs to two of the most touristic provinces of Spain, Alicante and Valencia. Both provinces are by the sea coast but they also have a very attractive countryside, with mountains and valleys. The Jalón valley is surrounded by rather high mountains, such as Oltá and Bernia, ideal for walking. The Alicante valleys are also beautiful, especially in February and March when the almonds blossom. Jalón has a well known antiquities/art market. "El Castell de Guadalest" (The Guadalest Castle) is a mountain village with breathtaking views. Benidorm, one of the most touristic Spanish spots, belongs to the area and offers Terra Mitica theme park and Aqualandia water park . In El Saler, near Valencia city, is one of the best golf courses in Europe. The World Health Organisation named Javea as having one of the healthiest climates in the world, enjoying more recorded hours of sunshine per year than any other place in Spain.
Javea area
Javea is located between the capes of San Antonio and Nao and made up of three parts, the port, the old town and the Arenal. The historic old town is located two kilometres away from the coastline, preserves a beautiful architecture, with emblematic monuments such as the church of San Bartolomé, the city's neuralgic centre. The primary beach of Javea is Playa de Arenal, a wonderful sandy beach with a good range of facilities. The beach is backed by a wide promenade, lined with bars, restaurants and shops and is also the location for a popular craft market which is held on summer evenings. The Port area of Javea has a real Spanish feel, this is an area where locals live and work in harmony with the tourist elements. It is a lively bustling area with many shops, cafes, bars and restaurants. Watch the fishermen bring in their fresh catches or watch the sailing boats set off from the marina. The Montgo mountain dominates Javea. You can even walk up the mountain on a guided tour but be sure to start early morning as it gets very hot! Javea holds its weekly local market on Thursdays and has many fiestas and celebrations throughout the year.
