About this location
The Valenciana region
The province of Alicante offers the holiday maker a magical mixture of seaside, mountain landscapes and historic towns. The town of Javea, with its iconic mountain the Montgo, is set on the coast midway between the two cities of Valencia and Alicante, It has been described by the World health organisation as having an ideal microclimate and the surrounding area offers attractions as diverse as the world famous seaside resort of Benidorm, the theme parks Terra Mittica, Terra Natura and Aqulandia and he surrounding mountains and valleys offer picturesque drives and small historic towns. Ferries sail every day to the Balearic Islands From the nearby port of Denia
Javea has three distinct centres - the historic old town with its rare 18th century fortified church and daily covered market, the fishing port where the day’s catch can be bought every evening in the "lonja", the fish market and the Arenal beach, a perfect sand crescent, with a lively promenade lined with bars and restaurants. The entire coastline is dotted with coves and pebble beaches, some only accessible by boat. Javea´s fiestas are legendry; the live chess at the Port is a Spanish national event, the San Juan Fiestas, International Festival, the Moors and Christians parades in the Port – every month in summer is a celebration. There are guided walks , every kind of water sport is available and there is plenty of night life for every taste. Taraula is a rural area running along the dry river bed of the River Gorgos, on the outskirts of the town.
