The Costa Blanca / Valencia / Alicante Province region
There's a lot to tell about Javea or Xabia in Valenciano. For instance the World Health Organisation has named it as one of the healthiest climates in the world and there are more recorded hours of sunshine per year on this little point of land than in any other place in Spain.
Javea is situated on the most eastern tip of south Spain, overlooking the Mediterranean sea. Therefore every morning the rising sun is seen first here in Javea before setting off to light and warm the rest of the country.
Javea / Balcon Al Mar area
The urbanisation of Balcon al Mar is a part of the small town of Javea, approximately one hours drive from Alicante or Valencia Airports. The villa is in a quiet location a short way from a tennis club with a bar/restaurant and a very good supermarket with a bakery and fresh meat and produce. Javea boasts beautiful coastlines and spectacular mountain ranges. Javea is divided into three main areas, the historic typical 'Spanish Town' with its white house fronts and cobbled streets, the traditional 'Fishing Port' which has its own Marina and clean pebble beaches and the 'Arenal' which is the bustling heart with beautiful sandy beaches and a promenade offering a wide variety of lively shops, bars and restaurants. There are numerous coves for snorkeling and scuba diving and for the more adventurous Aqualandia Water Park and Terra Mitica Theme Park are only a short drive away towards Benidorm. A lovely family holiday destination. Approximately 12 kms away at Jesus Pobre is the now famous 18-hole course at Marriott La Sella Golf and Spa Resort. The 9-hole Javea Golf Club is closest about 12 mins away and more difficult than it looks. Both courses are very beautiful and offer great views of Montgo. The Club de Golf Ifach near Moiraira towards Calpe is another demanding 9-hole. Other courses include the new 18-hole Seve Ballasteros Club de Golf Oliva about 25 kms away and just south of Valencia is the famous links course of El Saler. There is a huge variety of other sports and leisure activities available locally, including sailing, diving, surfing, swimming, tennis, walking, cycling and fishing.
Other activities include wind-surfing, kayaking, cinema in English, children's amusements, disabled facilities on Arenal beach for some weeks in July and August.
How to get there
Javea is within easy reach of both Alicante and Valencia Airports both are approx one and a half hours drive, while Murcia Airport is approximately 2 hours drive.
There are several of the budget airlines which fly into all three Airports from all over England.
