A beautifully refurbished villa with sea views. Calavista is genuinely only a short walk from the beach and has the luxury of its own exclusive infinity edge swimming pool. From the wide sun terrace and outside dining area you can look down on to the sparkling blue Mediterranean waters of Portichol cove and island.
The property offers comfortable and spacious accommodation, air conditioning, a well appointed kitchen and luxurious bathrooms. The villa is ideally situated just a 5 minute walk from Barraca beach and only a 5 minute drive from the sandy blue flag Arenal beach of Javea.

Stepping inside, there is a curved stairway which takes you to the upstairs sleeping accommodation. The reception area opens to the lounge through a stone arch. There is a selection of books, games, wide screen tv and dining area. Arched windows with white painted louvre shutters look out onto the top terrace, the pool and the Portichol cove. There are two comfortable leather sofas facing each other in front of a traditional stone fireplace.
The kitchen connects to the lounge and dining area through another Toscan stone arch. Both the kitchen and the lounge have been recently renovated with new floors and granite work surfaces. The kitchen has a small utility room which is accessed through an arched entrance. There is a washing machine, ironing board etc., The kitchen opens to the back dining terrace and to the front dining area via glass sliding doors, making it convenient to prepare meals even if you are dining al fresco.
The sleeping accommodation is on two floors. A small vestibule (currently used as a cloakroom) leads off to the downstairs double bedroom and shower room. The bedroom has built in wardrobes, a new comfortable double bed with wrought iron headboard. Sliding patio doors open to a balcony terrace, where there is a table and chairs, perfect for breakfast.
The view from this bedroom and balcony terrace takes in Portichol island and sea beyond. This is a tranquil place to read a book or take morning coffee away from the rest of the house.
The room is air conditioned and there is a sliding glass door which opens to the back garden area, giving the space a light and airy atmosphere.
Upstairs is the master bedroom, which is uniquely built in the style of a Moorish tower with curved walls all around. The room is large and has two arched windows which flood the room with light. There is a King Size double bed, two comfortable chairs.
A feature of all the bedrooms is that you can lie in bed and look out over the Mediterranean. All bedrooms offer a choice of either air-conditioning or low noise ceiling fans with remote control. Depending on the time of year, you may prefer to enjoy the gentle sea breezes which help cool the villa during the summer.
The main bedroom has a walk-in dressing room / wardrobe area with full length mirror. This opens to the en-suite bathroom, with large walk-in shower, a bath and 'his and hers' sinks with black granite surface, rustic style vanity unit. There is a front lit mirror fitted above which runs the full length of the wall.
The third bedroom, is also on the top floor and is furnished with twin beds and built in wardrobes. This room is very light, modern and comfortable.

Apart from wide screen HD TV, outside there is a table tennis area, a large BBQ char-broiler for dining alfresco and of course a great 10m long pool with infinity edge. Enjoy an evening swim whilst looking out to sea. Unbeatable!
The front dining terrace is a favourite place to spend some time and is partly shaded. Here you can enjoy a cocktail or an intimate romantic meal served on a Moroccan style tile topped table, lit by a traditional Moorish lamp.
Outside: There is a second dining terrace to seat 8, which also has sea views and is conveniently close to the kitchen and large BBQ Char-broiler. This area is cooled by a sail shade and is a great place to entertain. In addition to the 2 outside dining areas there is also an indoor dining area which seats 6 comfortably.

Conditions
Due to the infinity edge pool and steps at the villa, the property may not be ideally suited to families with very young children or people with mobility problems. Please call if you are unsure.
There is a 10% discount offered if only two people staying at the villa for the full duration. (Available only on full price bookings of 1 week or more).
Payment terms: 25% on reservation with the balance 75% due 6 weeks prior to arrival.
We do not request a security deposit. However, there is a non-refundable charge of 6.30 p/person p/week to cover accidental damage to crockery, fixtures and fittings.

Portichol beach is well known for its clear waters and is a great place for snorkelling. During the summer, it is possible to rent Kayaks and Jet-skis directly on the beach. The beach forms part of a natural rocky cove, with the island of Portichol sheltering the entrance. There are lightly wooded high cliffs all around this part of the peninsula, with hiking trails and many beauty spots.
Although Portichol beach is only a short walk away from the villa, you may also be interested in visiting the beach at Granadella. This is a little busier in the summer, but also worthy of a visit.
The sandy Arenal area of Javea is a must if you have young people in your party and is only a 5 minute drive from the villa. This beach is popular with young swimmers, as the shores slope gently and there are plenty of shops, bars and restaurants.
The Javea area
Whilst there is plenty to see and do in the Javea area, only a 45 minute drive down the coast towards Benidorm lie the attractions of the Teramitica theme park and also the Aqualandia water park.
Another great day out is a visit to Guardalest, where you can swim in the fresh water mountain lagoons and picnic by the natural waterfalls of this pretty nature reserve. Information about places to visit is provided along with the welcome pack at the villa.
The City of Valencia is also a great day trip and only an hour and half by car. Visitors who do not like city driving can choose to take the train from the nearby town of Gandia. Trains are frequent, air-conditioned and tickets cost very little compared to travel in the UK. The station, which is a spectacle in its own right, sits in the heart of the historic city.
Apart from fantastic local food in the many city restaurants, you can visit the silk museum, the post modern architectural Science Park, the Oceanographic Park (Sea World to most), the amazing historic indoor fresh fruit and veg market (check out the ceiling) as well as the Cathedral, which is famed for having the most authenticated Holy Grail amongst its many treasures.

We have recently returned from a very relaxing week in this villa. In our opinion it has the best views in the area and pool is just lovely. The local beach has a bar/restaurant which is great for lunch and less than a 10 minute walk. (Try the tellinos - baby clams of the bay, delicious) In the evenings we were happy to just BBQ gambas or steak on the terrace with a few bottles of cava or rioja and watch the sun set over the beautiful bay. Taxis were easy to arrange and very reasonable so if a couple of nights out in Javier is your thing.... To sum up - this villa is fabulous. |

The villa was beautifully clean and a welcome pack was there to greet us. The infinity pool was the highlight for us and the kids. The beach is a short walk away (though uphill on way back!) and is perfect for snorkelling. It does get crowded at the weekends though. Good local bar and restuarant at the beach. We didn't find any brilliant local restaurants though maybe we didn't look far enough. The L'Escut is friendly with a good atmosphere though. We had a good day at Aqualandia in Benidorm (less than an hour's drive) and saw a prehistoric cave in the mountains. A lovely stay. |

We have had an absolutely perfect holiday at this well equiped villa. The view at the frontside is fantastic, you dont have to take any books, just sit down and look at the activity down in the bay. Their is always a nice cooling breeze, with makes it more comfortable than more inland and you hardly need the aircon in house when you keep the windows open at night. The restaurant direct at the seafront down the bay (5 minutes walk) servers the best Paela in the area. |
