The Costa Tropical/Granada region
Granada is a short 20 minute drive away and you can use the local bus or train service from the village itself. Granada is Spain’s most visited city, thanks in part to the famous Alhambra Palace. El Albacin is the old Moorish quarter of the city known for its bazaar and dramatic views over the Palace’s famous rose gardens.
The open top London double decker bus tours are a great way to get your bearings and see all the places of interest in Granada.
Shopping, eating and drinking are national pastimes and Granada offers a perfect mix of all three at superb prices.
Iznalloz area
The apartment is on a small development overlooking the village and just a short walk from all the facilities that you need to need to enjoy your holiday with shops, small tapas bars, internet cafe, post office and banks etc.
Iznalloz is a casual, typical Spanish village and whist there is a train and bus service to Granada, we can also offer the following:
* One way trip to Granada centre for just £5.00 for adults and £3.50 for children under 16. * One way trip to the Sierra Nevada ski resort for just £15.00 (FOR SKIERS AND NON SKIERS). * Horse riding, cave visits, castle visits and tour of olive oil farm and production house also available. * ESCORTED TAPAS TOURS around Granada city centre.
The closest golf course is 10 minutes away and there is a lake for sailing, overlooked by a beautiful restaurant.
Skiing in the Sierra Nevada For many of us that are lucky enough to live in Spain, skiing in the Sierra Nevada has to be our main distraction during the winter months! It's an easy drive away from Granada taking only 30 minutes by car. It's very easy to find being well indicated by brown road signs for the Sierra Nevada from the Granada ring road. This road leads you into the middle of the village where there is an enormous underground car park! What could be easier!
There is a great website providing general information on the resort at www.sierranevadaski.com. It features some amazing photographs of skiing and snowboarding action, weather reports, piste conditions and lift passes and, if you click on En Pista on the central menu bar, one of the drop down options is for a web cam which shows current state of some main parts of the resort.
The resort usually opens around 1st December depending on snow conditions and the season can carry on straight through until Easter.
The Sierra Nevada is fantastic for beginners with lots of wide motorway runs and several ski schools which rank among the best in Europe. We particularly like the team at British Ski School, Sierra Nevada. Also, the resort is small enough for one of you to pootle around on your skis while your friends are in ski school and then easily meet up in the central area for refreshment.
The resort village is not that big but there is a selection of restaurants and bars. Everyone tends to eat early and then head back down to the city.
You can hire everything in the resort, including clothes if you’re not too worried about style!
On your first day, aim to get to the village for about 9.30 – hire shops open at 10 and there’s sometimes a queue for the two cable car lifts that take you up to the slopes. Worth the wait though. Avoid the main Spanish holidays if you can.
The website for the resort includes pricing for lift passes. It’s around 30 euros a day and gets cheaper the more consecutive days you buy for. Ski and boot hire is about the same. The resort is very high (3000m) so is a little susceptible to bad weather in which case it has to close. High wind is often the problem. However this is the only resort we know that refunds your lift pass if they have to close or the weather is only suitable for hardcases! They charge you an extra 6 euros for your lift pass when you first visit. This is a deposit for the card. At the end of your trip you can either put the card back in a machine (dotted around the lift pass kiosks) and get your 6 euros refunded, or hold on to the card and next time you go you can charge up your lift pass online before you drive up so that you don’t have to queue.
Weather wise it’s normally glorious – light ski jackets are best with a tee shirt underneath. If it’s clear and you can cope with a moguly red run there is a great view of the sea from the top.
It's a great experience whether you are a beginner or a bit more accomplished.

We went by bus to Granada to see the Alhambra Palace in Granada itself which was breathtaking. Remember to book in advance over the internet or in Granada itself or you wont get in!. Food was great and so cheap.
