About this location
The Andalucia region
Casa Ava is situated just inside the southern boundaries of the 'Parque naturel de la Sierra Subbetica, an area of outstanding natural beauty. It lies off a small country road between Iznajar and Rute on the shores of a large man made lake, the Embalse de Iznajar.
Iznajar is a beautiful hilltop town, overlooking a magnificent lake. The lake is not unlike a Scottish loch, particularly in the early morning mist, although this one is surrounded by hills clad with olive groves. There is a beach where you can swim and sail, and good fishing in the waters.
In the summer temperatures climb to the high 30s (Celcius) but it is rarely uncomfortably humid. Winter months are usually dry with chilly nights, hence log fire, heated pool (at an additional cost) and central heating!
Rute, famous for Anis is just 1.5 miles from Casa Ava.
Iznajar lake only 5 minutes away.
The highlight of the Iznajar calendar is La Feria Real (second week in September) in honour of the patron saint La Virgen de la Piedad. It involves a candlelight procession through the town.
In Rute, mid July marks the festival of the Virgen del Carmen (patron saint of sailors). Every Saturday in July and August from midnight until 5 am is the Musica Aurora celebrating by singing in the streets beginning by the Church up from the high street.
The ancient town of Cordoba is one of the many jewels of Andalucia. It comes to life at night with nightclubs, Flamenco, tapas, many restaurants and bars and is a must during one of the many Spanish festivals. This city remains unspoilt and is a popular destination for the Spanish. All this and only one hour from Casa Ava.

I have spoken with the clients who stated "the house was beautiful & they had a wonderful time". I have addressed the issues they have raised re cleanliness of the house, the cleaners were still cleaning the property due to a late departure of the previous guests. I have apologised and spoken with my local agent and changed the booking schedule so there is always a day between departure & arrival to avoid any client discomfort. I have also left information for clients so they know where extra pillows & towels are kept. I have replaced the mismatched glasses as they were broken by the previous guests so they are now in keeping with Casa Ava.

"More relaxing every year."
We have just returned from our fifth visit to Casa Ava and find it more relaxing every year. The Casa welcomes us as if we were returning home. With Rute just 10 minutes away supplying all we need, each year we dream of our King Prawns (Eur6/Kg) in garlic mayonnaise for lunch.
The lazy days spent reading and sorting the world out, then a swim in the large pool when it gets a bit hot! What else could you want in a holiday? We will be back next year – perhaps for longer!
