Home description

Located in the Subbetica National Park approximately 50 miles north of Malaga, this large and comfortable cortijo is actually made up of two separate houses. It offers plentiful accommodation for 1,2 or possibly 3 families.
Stunning views stretching to the mountains of Malaga to the south and the Sierra Nevada to the east with olive groves and mountains surrounding the house in all directions.

The cortijo has a small central courtyard with double doors at the entrance and a raised and sheltered terrace, water feature and planted troughs. There is ample room to sit out. There are actually two separate buildings comprising the cortijo. To the north of the courtyard is the entrance to a two storey house with four bedrooms and four bathrooms, to the south of the courtyard is the second house comprising of a master bedroom, living area and south facing balcony with unspoilt views.

The Inland Andalucia / Cordoba Province region

The region of Andalusia lies in the the south of Spain lined by the spectacular coastline of the Mediterranean.

Inland Andalucia is an ideal place to take a relax and unwind, but you are also within striking distance of some amazing sight seeing and bustling towns and cities.

There are good beaches at Nerja, La Herradura, Torrox and Torre del Mar.
Marbella, Fuengirola and Puerto Banus lie between 1 and 2 hours drive away.


Iznajar area

This stunning property is situated in a private and tranquil location at the end of an unmade road. There is a hamlet within 5 minutes drive with a local store and a bar.

The town of Iznajar is a 10 minute drive away and has more comprehensive facilities. The larger town of Rute is less than 15 minutes drive and the furniture-making town of Lucena with a large range of shops and superstores ( including Carrefour) is a 30 minute drive. Also within half an hour is the Roman city of Antequera.

The house is located in a rural olive-growing region between the historic and cultural cities of Granada, Seville and Corboda. Located in the central area between these three iconic treasures, the cortijo, on the outskirts of the traditional Andalusian town of Iznajar is ideally placed to explore not only these important landmark cities but also to enjoy the tranquil splendour of the olive-growing countryside and the coastal villages and historic towns of Andalusia, typically reachable within less than an hour’s drive.

How to get there

Malaga is approximately one hour’s drive and offers airport links to many UK major cities including Bournemouth (Thompsonfly) and Southampton (Flybe) with very reasonable fares outside school holidays. Easyjet also fly from Gatwick, Luton and Stanstead and Ryanair fly between Gatwick and Granada.

A car is essential as the house lies in a rural area.

The two storey house with four bedrooms and four bathrooms, all en-suite. Upstairs there is a children's bedroom with air-conditioning, three built-in beds including two bunks and a bathroom (with loo, sink, bath and separate shower).

There is also a double bedroom with ceiling fan, and a bathroom incorporating a loo, sink and shower. This room has a huge south-facing roof terrace leading out from the bedroom through double doors to magnificent views. This incorporates a large shaded area.

Downstairs there is a twin room with ceiling fan en-suite bathroom with loo, sink and shower and a further bedroom with air-conditioning, two bunk beds and a single foldaway bed. There is an en-suite bathroom with loo, sink and shower. This doubles as the utility room as it incorporates the washing machine, iron, ironing board, storage and work surface.

The second house with the master bedroom incorporating a living area with wood-burner, TV/DVD/DIGIBOX, air-conditioning, fan and a large south-facing balcony with unspoilt views.

There is an adjacent bathroom with loo, sink, bath and separate shower and also a twin bedroom with ceiling fan. All bedrooms have ample built-in shelves and there are built-in wardrobes in five bedrooms.

Downstairs via a spiral staircase there is a large kitchen/dining room/lounge with open fireplace and ceiling fan. This has a cooker, fridge freezer, dishwasher, double sink and its fully equipped with glassware, crockery and plastic plates and cups for use outside near the swimming pool. The lounge includes an open fire and TV/DVD and a Radio/CD player. There is also an adjoining utility room with a second fridge, sink, loo, separate entrance and ample storage. There are two sets of double doors from the kitchen to the top terrace with a shaded built-in dining table for 10 people and a shaded seating area backing directly onto the olive grove. All terraces and the central courtyard are amply lit.

Further details outdoors:
Below the pool is a thatched built-in dining area for up to 12 people and a thatched shaded lounging area with cushions. There is also ample room around the pool for sunloungers.

There is also a store next to the utility room for chairs, tables, spare gas bottles etc.
Hot water is provided by three separate boilers with calor gas bottles (provided) to serve the different areas of the property. One boiler is in this store and two are in the garage.

There is a large garage and parking area in front of the upper house.

All around the courtyard and swimming terrace there are planted troughs and the swimming pool and all the terraces are well lit at night. The house and garden is designed to maximise opportunities to be outside for eating al fresco and relaxing.


Further details

The British manager for the house lives only ten minutes away and will be available to deal with queries.

A local British chef can prepare meals for that special occasion at the house when you want to put your feet up but eat at home. This can be a kitchen or barbeque prepared meal and sample menus can be provided. Equally, you can choose your own menu completely.

The house will be cleaned and prepared for the guests and there will be a further clean mid-week, including the swimming pool.

Towels for the house are provided. Beach and swimming towels are not provided.
