Casa Nogal is a recently renovated farmhouse set in a tranquil,scenic location amidst its own olive grove ideal for relaxing family holidays, yet well-situated for visiting Granada, Malaga, Seville , Cordoba or skiing in the Sierra Nevada. The house is 15 mins from Iznajar, a picturesque, traditional Andalucian hilltop town with ancient church and Moorish castle overlooking Lake Iznajar and 15 mins from the A92 motorway with excellent links to Granada & the Alhambra (50 mins) , Malaga (50 mins), Seville (110 mins) and Cordoba and the Mezquita (90 mins).
When not exploring, relax by the private 10x5m pool or drink and dine on the vine covered terrace.

The house comprises a well-equipped kitchen /dining room with log burning stove, leading to the sitting room with open fireplace. and good supply of DVDs , books and games. The main bedroom is en-suite with log burning stove with 2 additional twin bedded rooms sharing a bathroom. Each bedroom is equipped with wardrobe, bedside cabinets , free standing electric fans and portable heaters depending on season.

Outside there is a laundry room with washing m/c and tumble dryer, a storeroom / logstore and traditional BBQ.
An attractive vine covered terrace with dining table overlooks the large 10x5m private walled pool equipped with sun loungers, inflatables, poolside table and parasol. Help yourself to figs, grapes ,and walnuts in season.

Just a note of thanks for letting us stay at Casa Nogal we all had a great holiday and it was so lovely to stay in a home not a property The pool was definitely a huge bonus with the heat and I really enjoyed the tranquillity of my early morning lengths whilst being dive-bombed by the swallows!

Further details
Change over date Saturday to Saturday in peak season , but will consider alternatives. A deposit of 25% is requested on booking with balance payable 4 weeks prior to holiday start date. A refundable security deposit of £100 is required.
Bed linen, bathroom towels and pool towels are supplied. Linen changed weekly
Water /electricity /gas and logs are all included.
There is a no smoking policy inside the house.

Rural Andalucia is traditional Spain, with a relaxed friendly way of life totally removed from the Costa del Sol, characterised by rolling hills covered in olive trees and scattered with ancient white-washed towns and villages, rich in local customs
The Andalucian spring is warm and sunny with the olive groves carpeted with wild flowers, whilst summer is hot with endless blue skies. Autumn is pleasantly cooler and a good time to visit cities such as Seville the capital of Andalucia, Cordoba, Granada or Malaga.
Closer to Casa Nogal, the old Roman town of Antequera (30 mins away) is an unspoilt provincial market town with many ancient buildings, a bull-ring and Moorish castle. Closer still is Archidona with its unusual octagonal 18th century plaza.
The Iznajar / Adelantado area
The historic village of Iznajar (15 mins) sits above Lake Iznajar with its ancient Moorish castle and quaint traditional shops.
Activities
Lake Iznajar offers fishing, sailing, and canoes in the summer.
Walking - The immediate area is ideal for walking , mountain biking and bird watching, the Parque Natural El Torcal (40 mins) with its unusual limestone scenery and walking trails is worth a visit, as is Fuente de Piedra (30 mins) a conservation area of wetlands and breeding grounds for flamingos and other wildlife.
Horse-riding- a nearby ( 15 mins) English run riding stable offers lessons, hacking and more ambitious treks.
Golf - there is a new 18 hole course at Antequera (30 mins), whilst 1 hr away there is a great range of courses on the coast.
Skiing - the Sol y Nieve ski-resort in the Sierra Nevada ( nr Granada) is approx 80 mins away, offering extensive ski-runs for all skill levels

A great house to stay in, full of rustic charm with an excellent swimming pool, away from the hurly burly, but, within striking distance of the coast, golf courses, Granada and Ronda. Superb local restaurants catering for all budgets and tastes, stunning local scenery and the best golden figs ever tasted. Off the beaten track but easy to find due to the very precise instructions from the ariport to the drive. We loved it... |

The property is miles from anywhere but if you are looking to escape from the rat race this is the place. You will need a car - just to get provisions and also to visit some of the local restaurants and attractions in the area. This is a peaceful holiday in wonderful surroundings, definitely not a resort holiday but the property is beautiful, comfortable and has all mod-cons - you can take all those DVDs you've not got around to watching if you want! |
