The Inland Andalucia / Cordoba Province region
You will find plenty of things to do in Inland Andalucia between the winding streets and charming white washed houses. There are plenty of restaurants serving traditional Andalucian cuisine and if you enjoy walking there are some spectacular views just a short climb away.
Iznajar / Monte Claros area
Iznájar is an ancient Moorish stronghold with the remains of a once majestic castle perched ontop the hill. Some years ago the valley was flooded to create a huge lake nearly 30km long, a source of hydro-electric power for the region. There is a sandy beach with a 'chiringuito' (beach restaurant) at Valdearenas, Iznájar, serving traditional Spanish fayre. Amongst many festivals in Iznájar are Semana Santa (Easter) when a band and procession pass through the narrow streets and the local brotherhoods (cofradía) carry the image of the Virgin on their shoulders. On April 25th is San Marcos, a day when everyone downs tools and heads into the country side for a day of realxation and picnicking!
How to get there
Besides Málaga airport you can now fly to Granada which is about an hours drive from the property. Look for cheap flights with Monarch, Easy Jet or Ryan Air and avoid most of the traffic and chaos which you might experience at Malága! There is car hire easily available too from Granada.
