The Inland Andalucia / Cordoba Province region
The area offers the opportunity to experience different activities including walking, golf, horse riding, cycling, bird watching, wolf watching, fishing, tennis and paragliding for the so inclined. It also offers the opportunity to visit the historical sites of Granada, Sevilla, Malaga and Cordoba. Explore local villages, many of which have been occupied by the Romans and Moors in the past, both of whom have left their legacies. Enjoy dining out, either full meals or tapas, in the local restaurants mainly Spanish with the odd English one.
July and August do tend to be hot with temperatures reaching high 40's. Spring tends to come twice a year:- March and then September/October when the temperature starts to fall again and there is some possibility of rain. Winter nights can be frosty but we have very few really cold daytime temperatures.
Iznajar / Fuente del Conde area
Fuente del Conde is one of the unspoilt villages in the olive growing region of Inland Andalucia. Although there are quite a few English families in the area, the community is predominately Spanish. Whatever your level of Spanish, you will be made to feel welcome by your immediate neighbours and also in the bar/restaurant and supermarket in the village. You will be made very welcome in the village bar even joining in the games of dominoes if you so wish. The supermarket is an Aladdin's Cave. Being a co-operative, the prices tend to be lower than the larger supermarkets in nearby towns. It also sells LOCAL fruit and vegetables in season. For children there is a small children’s playground opposite the bar and a football pitch where you will be welcomed. Fuente del Conde is ideally situated 4kms from the main road ,along tarmac, and 17 kms from the Granada/Sevilla motorway. This ensures that Granada, Sevilla, Malaga, Cadiz, Ronda and Gibraltar are all within easy driving distance. In the other direction, the city of Cordoba with the Mezquita is an 80 minutes drive away. Walking, birdwatching, photography, sightseeing and clay pigeon shooting can be experienced within 5miles of the property. Further afield activities include swimming, fishing, golf horseriding, wolf watching, tennis and paragliding are within a 40 minute drive away. For the more adventurous skiing and snow boarding in winter is available in Sierra Nevada Spanish lessons can be arranged in the village.
As most people know, Spain is a land of fiestas with the result that there seems to be a fiesta in the area practically every week.
The fiesta in Fuente del Conde takes place at the beginning of May and lasts for 3 days and 3 nights. Visitors are made very welcome and encouraged to join in the festivites.

Being newly reformed, the insulation, which is missing in my own house in the village, is very efficient. This ensures that room fans can cope with summer heat and the electric radiators in each room can handle the cold in winter. A cot and high chair are available for babies when needed. Wheelchair and walking frame available for the not so nimble.
Further details outdoors: Although the patio doesn’t cover acres, take advantage of the outdoor space for alfresco dining, surrounded by olive trees and fantastic views. From the roof terrace, the views are panoramic looking over the olive groves to the distant hills. This has all- day sun during the year. Recent occupants have been given lessons on olive processing and the opportunity to sample fresh vegetables (just picked) from the very friendly Spanish neighbours. There is very safe parking outside the property next to the local fresh water spring. Although the property does not have a pool, which is reflected in the price, the pool in the next village costs 1.50 euros per day. Recent clients having used the local pool have given it a thumbs-up approval.
