Gorgeous converted barn set in the tranquil rolling hills around Cordes. The barn was built in the early 19th century and has been part of a working farm and vineyard until recently - the wine vats are still in place in the cellar! The house has magnificent views across the countryside to Castelneau de Montmiral 10km away. There is a large garden of nearly 1/2 hectare with plum, cherry, fig and walnut trees. Some of the garden is maintained for playing and lounging in and some is wilder for exploring. The pool is surrounded by decking and loungers and also has superb views. Ideal for cycling and walking holidays.
The barn was converted in 2009 by local craftsmen and now has the original beams exposed, log burner and luxury bathrooms and kitchen. The deep mattresses on all the beds will ensure a comfortable nights sleep.
The house is surrounded by paths and trails for walking and the nearest wine cave is only 15 minutes walk across the valley for local produce. Hilltop villages are all around with Cordes, Castelneau and Puycelci only 10 minutes by car and Vaour has a world famous music festival during August.

The entrance to the former 2 storey barn leads into a large dining kitchen. The dining table comfortably sits 10 and the kitchen is equipped with smeg range cooker with double ovens, fridge and bosch dish washer.
Behind the kitchen a short corridor leads to a large doube bedroom and twin bedroom. Both bedrooms have pine wardrobes and chest of drawers. The double bedroom has patio doors leading to a terrace with table and chairs and the path to the pool. In between the bedrooms is a bathroom with double shower.
The first floor has a large living room with huge picture windows overlooking the valley and double height ceiling with original beams. There is 1 large en suite double bedroom with doors leading to a patio area and the garden. Next door is a twin bedroom which is also en suite.
There is also a WC on this floor.
Opposite the house there are 3 paved areas for relaxing and dining, lots of garden space and a superb pool with views across the surrounding hills and vineyards.

The 10 x 5 m pool is fully enclosed and surrounded by decking and has loungers and seats. There are trees for shade and grass areas for playing and lounging and wilder areas of the garden for exploring.
Changeover in high season is Saturday with arrival after 4pm and departure by 10am to allow time for cleaning. Once verbally booked, you will be sent a booking form with terms and conditions and the booking will be confirmed when this is returned along with the deposit of 25% of the rental.
The balance of the rental will be due 8 weeks before the arrival date and a security deposit of £200 will be required. This will be returned one week after the rental ends (less any deductions required for breakages, additional cleaning etc)
The Midi-Pyrénées region
The "golden triangle" in Tarn has a superb climate where it's warm and dry from early spring to late autumn. Albi is the main city of Tarn and has a magnificent brick cathedral from the middle ages and sits next to a museum dedicated to Toulouse- Lautrec who was born in Albi.
Toulouse, 4th largest city in France, is the centre of the European aircraft and space industry with its space museum and airbus factory.
Andorra and the Pyrenees mountains are 2 1/2 hours away and the beaches of the Med 2 hours away. The walled city of Carcassonne which featured in Robin Hood is an hour away.
Itzac is surrounded by fortified hilltop villages - from the medieval city of Cordes-sur-Ciel to the small villages of Puycelci and Penne, and the rolling vineyards of Gaillac - so there is plenty to explore. The countryside is criss-crossed with paths and cycle paths.
Cordes was voted ¨Village Prefèré¨ in France in 2014 in a nationwide poll, and St Antonin provided the backdrop for the Helen Mirren film ¨The Hundred Foot Journey¨
Vaour has a week long music and arts festival in August and all the local villages have festivals throughout the summer with food, wine and music.
There is a large Friday market in Gaillac, a smaller market in Cordes on Saturday and a bustling Sunday market in St Antonin.

"great hospitality, lovely surroundings and views"
we were 8 in our group. Colin and Janet's house was perfect for our needs. They made us feel at home from the first minute we walked into the house. Rooms were great, everything well kept. Great view, especially when dining outside at night, looking at the stars. Meals were superb (we got out fatter than we came...). Colin did a super job guiding us through the walks - everyday a different scenery! Highly recommend. Our group was very happy.

"Fantastic property - don't hesitate to book"
My husband and I stayed at La Terrasse from 8-15 June this year and had a great time. If you are considering renting this house for your holiday then don't hesitate – it is even better than it looks in the photos and the surroundings are extremely beautiful and very peaceful. The week that we stayed turned out to be unusually mixed weather for June, including two days of cold rain and two days of hot sunshine. This house is perfect no matter what the weather and we got to use both the log-burner and the swimming pool in equal measure!
Itzac itself is a small picturesque hamlet and the only drawback is the lack of a boulangerie, however this is only a minor set-back as you can easily stock up when passing through nearby towns such as Corde (10mins by car) or larger Gaillac (25mins). The facilities at the house are excellent with a very nicely appointed kitchen / dining area, large lounge with comfortable furnishings and vaulted ceiling, and 4 beautifully decorated bedrooms. There are private terraces directly off the two double bedrooms as well – very nice for morning coffee. The house is attached to the owners' property however it still manages to remain very private, and considering how welcoming the owners are, we actually found this to be a plus. Thanks for the hospitality Colin & Janet – we had a brilliant and very relaxing week in your wonderful house. It's staying on our list of places to return to and we hope to see you again! "Wonderful property, great location."
This truly is a lovely home with lots of space for everybody, both inside and outside. The pool is wonderful and there are great views. An excellent place to unwind and yet close enough to interesting places to visit. At the same time the area offers great walking/cycling opportunities. Colin and Janet will be happy to answer all your questions. Their knowledge of the area is quite extensive. We would have loved to see the sunflowers bloom. The fields must have been beautiful.

"At home in a beautiful and tranquil setting!"
This was definitely a great spot to destress. From the spacious terrace in every direction are countryside views of rolling hills, a distant hill top village, and on a clear day I was even able to see the snow capped pyrenees.
I did a walking holiday with full board. The meals were always very good and served with local wine. Colin and Janet made me feel so welcome and at home. We did some great walks and on days we couldnt walk they invited me to see local sites and visit local markets.
If you are here independantly with a car there are lots of things to see and do within a very short distance - Cordes, Albi, and Gaillac among others, are very close. All have historical sites, great markets and restaurants. Gaillac is also a good sized wine region and there are lots of nearby vineyards where you can taste and buy wine. Its a wonderful walking area with some great vistas.
The accommodations are top notch in tastefully renovated stone farm buildings.. I stayed in a room attached to the main house with private bath which was perfect for me.
I enjoyed my time here immensely, and would highly recommend it to others.

"Convenient accommodation with nice atmosphere"
Despite the unuasual cold weather conditions we had a splendid time. The owners were very helpful and shared a lot of tips. The house was more than big enough for my partner, myself, our 3 teenagers and my father. With 4 big bedrooms everybody had enough privacy. There are many nice authentic towns in the neighbourhood (Cordes-sur-Ciel, Albi, Gaillac, ...) and the kids and we had some peak-experiences in Cap d'Ecouverte (don't skip this when you have older kids or if you are adventurous, it is really worth and not at all spoiled by commercial drive).

Perfect for a peaceful, relaxing stay within striking distance of many authentic towns and villages.
Friendly, helpful owners with long experience of the Region and its attractions. A must for wine lovers with many top quality vineyards close at hand.
Ideal location with easy access from airports at Carcassonne, Toulouse, and Rodez. A visit to Carcassonne is a must, but take time to visit local villages such as Cordes-sur-Ciel which is stunning.
