Activities near Istanbul
Great for: Walking holidays Good nightlife City breaks
The apartment is clean and close to public transportation. The apartment has a large open living room/dining area and the kitchen good enough. We used both the tram system and the metro train with ease.

We rented the apartment at the end of 2012 / start of 2013 and we do not regret this decision. The apartment is simple but has everything that you need if you want to visit Istanbul, have good access to all kind of public transportation, have a place to stay and relax after a long day. I could do the renting arrangements with ease. The owner is kind and wants to help.

“Perfect for a low-key vacation!”
We (parents and 3 teenagers) spent Christmas week in Tufan Mengus's apartment. You can take the metro from the airport almost to the front door (Tufan met us at the metro exit and escorted us to the apartment), and it's a 5-minute walk to the tram stops that take you anywhere you want to go in Istanbul. Good-sized rooms, easy for all of us to use WiFi connection, great TV for movie nights- just a great location for us. We highly recommend this apartment for families!

“Pleasantly away from the tourist crowds”
Comfortably away from the tourist crowds in a locals neighborhood, mostly of SE Turkish origin. Surrounded by fantastic Hatay and Urfu restaurants and plenty of small convenience stores. Lots of taxis available, bustling area, 1 block to Metro (has Istanbulkart machine) and 2 blocks to tramway which is a few stops from major sites in Sultanhamet. The apartment was comfortable and spotlessly clean. Comfortable beds. Bedrooms far enough from living room for some peace and quiet. Small balcony out back overlooking inner courtyard. Temperature was tricky to control but we got the hang of it after a couple days (warmer than cooler). Nice hot water. Plenty of security locks on doors. Owner wasn't available to meet us, but his nephew did. Although he didn't speak English, he smiled and carried both our bags up the 6 floors of stairs, then the owner called us on his nephew's phone and walked us through the features of the apartment. Living room windows have views south over the main thoroughfare. If you don't mind bustle, traffic noise, and smell of kebab joints from below, it was a fine location and to have windows open. When windows are closed, noise isn't noticed. It is 85 steps up to the apartment, so be prepared; there is no elevator. On our last day we did see a rat in the common area stairwell, but as long as it wasn't in the apartment I didn't care (I live in a major city, so this didn't bother me). Not much counterspace in bathroom, but there was plenty of tissue paper, towels, and all linens provided. Beds clean. Overall a good place and recommend if you want to be in a "real" part of Istanbul but still near the major sights.
The entrance to apartments isn't very inviting and the stairs are a killer but a very nice, bright and comfortable apartment . Little traffic noise in this very busy area and great people watching from the living room windows. Easy and cheap access to tram and metro. Plenty of eating places nearby.

“Clean, comfortable and excellent location”
My wife and I stayed here with another couple for a 4 night break in Istanbul. Although located in a busy area, the apartment is very quiet (being on the top floor helps) and is situated a stone's throw from the T1 tram or the metro. Also next to several restaurants and shops so very convenient. Inside, nice and lean, spacious and comfortable. Satellite TV gave us Sky News which was all we needed, and wi-fi to catch up on emails. Recommended!

“Fantastic View- Worth the Climb”
We had a brilliant holiday in Istanbul and would recommend the city to anyone. Tufan was an excellent host meeting us at the metro station and escorting us to the apartment. The outside of the building didn't look promising and the stairs are steep but all stress melts away as soon as you walk through the door. The apartment is clean, modern and feels spacious- there are 2 good showers which scored well with our 20 something children as did the wifi. Tufan gave us plenty of info and was at the end of a text if we needed him. We really liked the location-close to touristland but very much locally populated. Masses of good cheap restaurants/cafes, minimarts, bakers etc. The bars were small and quiet and people were friendly. We would all go back willingly tomorrow!
We loved our trip to Istanbul and we really enjoyed our stay in Tufan's apartment. His travel instructions were clear and we were met off the tram which took us directly from the airport to the flat. First sight of the apartment building was not promising 5 stories up above a busy shopping street but with Tufan's help we made it to the top. The apartment is clean and spacious with 2 good showers which scored well with our 2 20-something kids. The kitchen is basic but we were able to cook a meal without difficulty. Having said that at the bottom of the stairs there are any number of cafe's and Restaurants selling a wonderful aray of local foods and because this is just outside the tourist zone the prices are low and the quality is good. Everything you need is close at hand, convenience stores, bakers, fresh veg etc and everyone is friendly. Ask Tufan for information and he is pleased to help. We used the Tram to get about which will take you to most of the tourist hot spots. We took a taxi once and it was almost as cheap as the Tram! Pay attention to Tufan when he explains how the TV works because I didn't so we spent a stupid amount of time trying to watch the Galatasaray match..Although the apartment is in a busy and lively neighbourhood we had no noise issues and we slept in comfortable beds. Istanbul is without doubt a magical city and Tufan's apartment was a good base to view it from.

“Great location for touristy travellers and people looking to experience the local culture”
We loved our stay at this property. The building is not located in the very downtown area of Istanbul (around the Blue Mosque/Aya Sofia) but a few stops by tram or 20 min walk from the same area and we really liked that fact because we didn't want to be in the touristy area. The apartment is right off the metro and tram stops, and the same metro goes to the airport so it was extremely convenient. We loved the area around the apartment because there were many grocery stores and restaurants and we had our pick of places to eat for way cheaper than any of the places downtown. For the most part of our stay we actually ended up eating at a restaurant right next to the apartment and the food there was amazing. Beware that there is no elevator and the apartment is on the 5th floor, which was not an issue for us, but it might be for some people or if you are carrying a lot of luggage (although the landlord's nephew who greeted us at the placed help us with the luggage). The apartment was very clean and well stocked (compared to other apartment rentals we had stayed at) - there were all the necessary dishes, pots, pans, knives etc. and also cleaning supplies so we didn't have to buy anything like that while staying there. The furnishings in the apartment were modern and there was a lot of room for everyone (we were 5 people) since the apartment was pretty spacious and we didn't feel confined. The only issue we had during our stay and it had nothing to the with the apartment or the building itself but just bad timing is that there was construction going on right in front of the building and a lot of noise during the night since that's when they were working, and even if we kept the windows closed we could still hear that. There was A/C in the living room, but none in the rooms and we had to leave all the doors open so we could get some cold air at night otherwise it was way too hot (opening the windows doesn't help because of the high temperatures in Istanbul in August). Tufan was very accommodating and helpful before and during our stay. Checking in was fairly simple - I had called Tufan to tell him what time we were getting in and his nephew met us at the metro stop (the airport was about 30 min away by metro). I would gladly recommend this apartment to anyone staying in Istanbul - people looking for touristy and not-so-touristy experiences.
The apartment was lovely. Aksaray and Istanbul were so much more than we could have hoped for. It was an absolute pleasure to stay in the apartment. The AC in the living room was a blessing at night!... more

“Nice Flat”
I stayed for one night with my family and we wish to stay the rest of the holiday but the flat was fully booked. There are two bedrooms one with double bed in suite and the other room with two single, however the reception room can accommodate four people easily. It is nice, clean and tidy and near to the metro station and shops.
The owner is very helpful and helps me with the luggage to the fifth floor because there is no lift in the building, however he did show me around the area and the shops as well. It is pleasure to meet him.
The only issue with this flat it is in the fifth floor with no lift.

“Simple, nice, newly renovated apartment”
i am from Azerbaijan . Visited Stanbul with y family consist of 6. We were kindly met by Tufans young relative at the Subvay station and escorted to the apartement. Very clean, tidy and simle apartment . Easily accessbale from the Aksaray subway station which directly connected to the Ataturk airport. Me and my family enjoyed our time staing in this apartment for 10 nights. Only please be advised that this is not reccomended for the people with limited ability to wolk the stairs up. Would like to thanks the owner Tufan for his hospitality and assistance during our stay in Stanbul.
The owner is very helpful and kind. The flat is comfortable and not far from the centre which can be reached easily either by tram or on foot. Although it is near a main street, it is not noisy, so we could sleep every night. There are shops and restaurants nearby. We enjoyed our holiday in Istanbul.

“We found it as expected”
To get to the appartment was very easily. Subway has direct conection from Ataturk airport and costs a bit more $1 pp. Appartment extremely clean with all essential amenities. Host supported us in early check in and late check out. A lot of traditional restaurants are near, however, they do not serve the alcohol there. Food store (Migros) on walking distance.

“Great apartment, great value.”
Pro's - Great location; right next to the metro from airport and only 5 minutes to tram stop to get into all the sights. Great welcome; met by Tufan's brother at metro station. Great apartment; basic but large and clean. Great view (but it is 87 steps to it and no lift). Surprisingly quiet given the apartment's position on a busy and vibrant area. Very fast Wifi. Didn't meet Tufan but his English is very good and responded fast to any text or email. Thanks Tufan. Con's - none.
We are are a family of six. Tufan, the owner met us at the metro and was very helpful and kind. The apartment is 50 metres from the metro and a 10 minute walk from the Grand Bazaar. The apartment was clean and newly fitted out with all important appliances etc.

“the perfect place for a family or group in istanbul”
it is a clean, cute, nice apartment to rent in istanbul , near to all the markets and restaurents has a beautiful view , and it has the perfect location because all the transportation are so close to it , the owner was so nice and very kind " a man whose you can trust "
My family was visiting from America and I wanted to rent an apartment versus staying in a hotel. I was happy with what I found. The apartment was very clean and comfortable. The beds were the best I have found in Turkey. It was however on the 5th floor of the building with no elevator.
As far as the location of the rental goes, the metro was seriously on the other side of the street. It was very convenient to get to the sites of the city from the apartment.
The owner of the building was helpful and stayed in great communication with me before arrival, upon and even after.
I will definitely be returning.

“Brand new and comfortable apartment”
It was really difficult to find an apartment for 4 persons in February for a stay during Easter Holiday. We are very glad and lucky that we finally found and chose this apartment offered by Tufan. (Maybe this apartment is too new that not many people knew of its existence yet).
This apartment is brand new and designed by Tufan. It is clean and comfortable. With a well-equipped kitchen, we cooked dinner by ourselves after buying the food and vegetables from the supermarket and butcher shop just around the corner. The location is really good and the Metro (directly to Istanbul Ataturk Airport) and the Tram Station are just a few minutes walk. As there are a lot of local restaurants downstairs the apartment which opened till late night, we never feel unsafe even if we returned at about 11: p.m. after watching the Turkish Dance Show. Although there are restaurants downstairs, the apartment is itself quiet and we did not hear the noise.
Tufan is very helpful and informative. Upon our arrival nearby the apartment, the taxi driver tried to overcharg us for 59TL when it should be about 20TL. After receivng our call, Tufan immediately turned up and sorted out the matter for us (which means finally we need only pay 20TL). He also gave us a lot of useful information about the sightseeing places and is ready to offer assistance if we need so.
We are very satisfied with this apartment and glad that we have such a good host who does not only care about the apartment matters but other problems/matters which we may encounter in Istanbul. We feel like staying in a good friend's house. We would definitely stay in this apartment again should we ever go back to Istanbul and we have no hesitation to recommend this apartment to others going to Istanbul.

“great”
Location is great. Right in front of the Metro Station and directly connected with airport (30 minutes) and most famous sight seeing area (Sultanahmet; 10 min) by Tram, whose station is also located within a few minutes. A lot of good Turkish restaurants, pubs, supermarkets, bakeries in close neighbor of the house. Facilities are brain new, living room is enough large, both bedrooms have closets, and the owner is very kind, flexible, and can speak English fluently.
“Who wants to have a comfort and nearest place to center, then you're welcome, recomend you to stay in this flat”
Firstly,I'd like to thank the owner of this flat, to Mr.Tufan Megnus for his kindness during my week holiday. When it comes to flat,I'd strongly recommend this flat who'd like to stay there.I really enjoyed my staying in that flat because of its comfort and nearest location to the restaurants, markets and center of the city and because of not spending much time for going sightseeing in Istanbul Thanks a lot for everything
