An example for the world, in the Ottoman period citizens living in the regions used to come here to eat, drink and enjoy without any distinction. In fact in the neighbourhood, such as church history extant, you can still see buildings from Byzantine and Ottoman period.
The first thing that comes to mind about Kumkapi today it's still “eating-drinking” and “fun” . Istanbul's most important tourist districts where city dwellers, Turkish, Armenian and Jewish citizens meet in a one common district.
The walk side in the Albanian neighbourhood streets with decorated tables overflowing, from the first hours of the evening begins to be filled up by local and foreign visitors. Taverns' menu and appetizers include traditional Ottoman food.
After the main meal of appetizers, fresh fish dishes are offered depending on the season. You can couple the fish with a traditional Turkish drink called “raki”. Those wishing wine or beer a lot of pubs are also available as well as other alcoholic beverages.
Kumkapi is a meeting point of different cultures and you may witness a conversation during a meal, accompanied by itinerant musicians of the darbuka and traditional Turkish music with their violin or the belly dance show in brewpubs, that some of you can have the opportunity to follow.
