The Tuscany region
Tuscany is one of the most beloved and famous regions of Italy. Ripe with history, art, culture, it also offers the benefit of having a long coastline, ideal for the sun lovers, as well as a mountain range for skiing in the winter, or as a retreat from the stifling heat of the cities.
The Tuscan Archipelago comprises 7 islands, most of which are part of a recently-formed National Park. They provide further variety to a region of unparalleled beauty and points of interest for all tastes.
Isola del Giglio area
Isola del Giglio is located just south of the island of Elba, in Tuscany. It is a 1-hour ferry ride from Porto Santo Stefano, which is easily accessible by car or train (Orbetello station). Giglio is part of the Tuscan Archipelago National Park. Built entirely on granite rock, it's a mountain in the middle of the sea! Relatively small, it measures about 3 miles by 5 miles, makes it easy to move around it. There are three very small towns on the island, each with its own distinctive character: the harbour, the mountaintop, and the resort-like along the largest beach.
From March to mid-June you can enjoy a very relaxing holiday, taking in the Spring blossoms and the greenery, walking and hiking. In the summer months there is more seaside activity and a flurry of cultural and gastronomical events to keep most entertained day and night.

Further details indoors: The studio has a double bed, a sofa, dining table for four, and library. A window overlooks one of the village's most quaint squares, and has a view of part of the island and the sea. It is self-catering with all basic cooking necessities (salt, pepper, oil, vinegar, sugar) as well as dish soap, set of dishes, glasses, cups, pots, utensils, etc. In hot summer nights you will enjoy the cool breeze and fresh surroundings of the castle. The walled garden has an ancient fig tree, two cherry trees and some of the distinctive flora found around the island. You can have your own BBQ, or read, or walk on the path along its walls to witness spectacular views.
Further details outdoors: The castle has its origin in ca. 1000 A.D., with several additions in the course of the following centuries. It is a rather unique property and sits at the top of the village, within its own fortified walls. It is part of a larger complex where, in the summer months, are small but lively art exhibits, theatre productions and concerts (usually jazz or classical) which add to the nightlife of the town.
