This 4 star apartment in Isola is newly built and tastefully decorated within a Spa and pool complex, perfect after a hard day's skiing in winter or following alpine pursuits in summer as the resort is popular with walkers and cyclists in the summer. It sleeps 4/6 with 1 double bedroom, a separate, bunk bed area and a sofa bed in the lounge. There are 2 bathrooms, additional loo and an open plan kitchen/dining/living area. There is a balcony, south facing, with stunning views of the mountains. The apartment is just 2 minutes walk to the centre of Isola 2000, a beautiful, southern Alps resort, boasting 300+ days a year of blue skies and sunshine plus 120km of high altitude skiing. During summer, the fresh mountain air and in-resort activities are a relief to the high temperatures and crowds at the coast. The apartment is on the 5th floor, corner plot of the building. The Provence Alpes Cote d'Azur region

We've been skiing in Isola since 2002 and love the fact that it's pretty difficult to find Isola 2000 in the UK travel/ski brochures. The skiing, we think, is just as good as it is in many of the better known ski resorts we've been to in France and Italy over the years. But, we have found that in Isola, the quality of skiing, quieter slopes, 120km of pistes, lack of queuing at the lifts, sunshine, cheaper ski passes and lessons and good snow record, is unbeatable! As well as being a fabulous place to ski in the winter, Isola 2000 is equally beautiful in the summer: there are walks, cycling and activities for children and adults, including an outdoor pool, resort run Crèche and Kids club which we have found to be excellent. We also think it's a bonus that in a day trip you can visit Nice

Unique benefits of the property

Fantastic views, modern facilities in a well equipped apartment and a wonderful indoor pool and spa, included in the rental price. We have found Isola to be a truly multinational resort. Plenty of Brits who live on the coast come to the resort regularly, as do Italians so ski instructors usually have very good language skills. It does however retain a French charm and feel.

It is a 2 minute walk to the Resort complex for shops, bars, restaurants etc. The Italian border is a 5/10min drive away during the summer season, with the Italian market town of Cuneo only 50km away. 16km down from Isola 2000 is the pretty village of Isola, which has a large indoor swimming pool complex with chutes and slides. There are many small market towns to visit locally and explore the region.

Isola 2000

There are 2 supermarkets, a bank, an ATM, several bakeries and many sport shops in the main resort buildings.

There are plenty of restaurants at Isola 2000 which serve traditional Alpine food as well as international cuisine.

Ski hire is in the main resort buildings.

The apartment is 200m from the main resort of Isola 2000, at the bottom of Le Hameau area. Isola offers excellent skiing throughout the season with 120km of pistes, suitable for beginners and intermediates alike. However there are plenty of difficult runs for those who enjoy the thrill of black pistes. The resort has invested in over 160 snow canons to ensure that the slopes are always in great condition and because of it's altitude (1800-2600m) Isola 2000 boasts a high snow and sun record. It's in the south of France (85km north of Nice) so the weather tends to be a lot sunnier than the more northerly French alpine resorts.

There are 42 pistes (7 green, 21 blue, 11 red and 3 black) and 20 lifts (2 cable cars, 7 chairlifts, 10 Poma / button lifts and 1 funicular) and in 2010 season a brand new 6-seater chairlift was installed - the second fastest in France!

The Ecole du Ski Francais has 110 instructors in the resort and lessons may be booked online via their website.

PLACES TO VISIT:

- The old World War II pill boxes just 2 miles up the mountain towards Italy: amazing, you can walk inside them, climb their ladders. Thrilling for those who love history.

- Sant'Anna di Vinadio (summer only) - a beautiful sanctuary just over the Col de la Lombarde in Italy. Spectacular views and lovely walks.

- Alpha Loup - a wolf park at Saint Martin Vesubie.

- Isola Village - lovely to walk around.

- Auron - nearby ski resort which offers spectacular skiing in the winter & walking in the summer.

- Col de la Bonnette, at 2800m, the highest paved road in Europe, the views at the top are astonishing on a sunny, summer's day.

Summer activities:

Horse riding and trekking, mini golf, climbing, tree top adventure course, table tennis, open air swimming, guided walks, yoga, aqua gym, football, volleyball, basketball, tennis, trampoline and mountain biking and hire are organized by Isola 2000's tourist office.

- Guided walks and mountain bike trails are run by the resort in the summer.
