The barn offers a high standard of accommodation full of charm and character with ample space for up to eight people. It is very well-equipped with all modern conveniences including a hob, a double oven, a dishwasher, washing machine and DVD and video players.

One of the living rooms has an Inglenook fireplace, which provides a very cosy atmosphere for those nights in and there is a separate dining room, which is beautifully decorated and a further sitting room in which the TV/DVD and video are located.

Upstairs there are four double bedrooms (one galleried) with two doubles and four twin beds and two bathrooms (one en-suite) and spectacular views over the open Dorset countryside.

The West Country / Dorset region

Dorset is a county in the south-west of England, on the English Channel coast. Dorset borders Devon to the west, Somerset to the north-west, Wiltshire to the north-east, and Hampshire to the east. The county is largely rural with a relatively low population and population density.

Dorset is famous for its beautiful coastline, the Jurassic Coast, which features landforms such as Lulworth Cove, the Isle of Portland, Chesil Beach and Durdle Door, as well as the holiday resorts of Poole, Bournemouth, Weymouth, Swanage and Lyme Regis.

Dorset is the setting of the novels of Thomas Hardy, who was born near the county town of Dorchester. The county has a long history of human settlement and some notable archaeology, including the hill forts of Maiden Castle and Hod Hill.

Isle of Purbeck area

Naturally, it is all a matter of taste and preference as to which beach is the 'best' one. The closest is Lulworth Cove at just 5 miles which is shingles and pebbles. However, if you have the strength and not too many buckets and spades to carry, the walk up and over from Lulworth to Durdle Door is worth it as there are two wonderful shingle beaches in a really lovely spot.

The National Trust owns the award-winning Studland Bay so for those of you with NT membership you can park in the car park free of charge. The car park is very close to the ticket cabins for the Sandbanks Ferry. Non-members can park on the private road and walk through the dunes along a very pleasant path. As you approach the beach in your car, you will start to see lots of parked cars and you will need to park as close to the bus stop on the opposite side as you can and then walk along the path behind the bus stop down to the beach - 10-15 minute walk. It takes about 40 minutes from leaving Manor Farm Barn to parking your bum on the golden sand of this beautiful beach.

There are also many coves and beaches along the Dorset coast - a World Heritage site - and hopefully the Ordnance Survey map, which we have left for you, will help you discover them. Just five miles from the coast at Lulworth Cove or about 25 minutes drive from Studland Bay which is renowned for its wonderful beaches and dunes, it is well located for both summer and winter holidays.
