Key Info
  • Great for children of all ages
  • Pets welcome
  • Private garden
  • Car advised

Erray Cottage sits on the edge of a working farm surrounded by open countryside yet within easy distance of the seafront, shops and restaurants. Take in the beautiful countryside, enjoy nature spotting (eagles have been spotted in the garden!), play golf at the local course (300m), or wander to the Main Street (once the centre of children's TV program "Balamory"), just 15 minutes walk away.

We have taken great care to create an environment inside the cottage reflective of our beautiful island, and you'll see this as soon as you step in the door. For those rainy days where you just want to put your feet up by the open fire, you'll find a TV with freesat. We've also included maps and guides for great walks in and around Tobermory to help you plan your next adventure on the Island.

The cottage is fenced, so a great place for kids and dogs. On arrival, you will be greeted with a lovely goodie basket of local delicacies to give you a taste of what the Island of Mull has to offer.

The kitchen features a fridge/freezer, electric cooker and microwave, as well as all the utensils you'll need to cook that fish you proudly caught in the local loch. You'll also find a washing machine and ironing board in the cottage.

About us

My name is Richard, and my wife is Pauline. We used to live on the mainland, but when I retired in 2012 we made the move up to Mull to be closer to family. My wife is a Head Teacher in one of the local schools, and I look after the cottage. I'm also the Treasurer of our local Golf Club, so can help you with any golf related questions.

If there is anything more we can do for you, just let us know - we take great pride in making sure our guests enjoy their stay and look forward to their next trip on the Island.

The Hebrides/Skye region

The Island of Mull is the second largest island in Scotland, located in the Inner Hebrides, just a short 45 minute ferry ride on the Caledonian Macbrayne from Oban.

Mull is known for it's nature spotting including White-tailed eagles, Basking sharks, Minke whales, porpoises and dolphins (to name but a few). The landscape provides many outdoor enthusiasts with exciting opportunities for activities such as mountain climbing, golfing, biking (off and on road), fishing, horse riding and sailing. During the warmer summer months, visitors can check out the unspoiled beaches around the Island.

Around the Island, you can also find boat trips to Staffa (home to Fingal's Cave - stunning natural basalt rock columns), Iona (known for its tranquility and natural beauty), and Lunga (for Puffin spotting).

For any Castle lovers, we have a number to chose from including; Moy, Glengorm and Duart.

Isle of Mull

Tobermory is located in the northeasern part of the Island, and is the capital of Mull. It is known for its picturesque Main Street where many buildings are painted in assorted bright colours - previously the inspiration and focal point for children's TV show Balamory. In and around Tobermory, you will find a scenic 9 hole golf course, lochs for fishing, and many sailing opportunities.

Throughout the year, you'll find a number of exciting events taking place in Tobermory, including the Highland Games (in July), the Mull Rally (October), the Mod (September) and the Music Festival (April).
