About the home

Taigh Ciùil (pronouced Thai Cool) is a well appointed new cottage best suited for a couple or a small family. It can accommodate up to a maximum of 2/3 people or one infant/child.

The kitchen, bedroom, shower room/WC are all located on the ground floor. The decked balcony is accessed via the French doors in the kitchen with steps leading to the front garden. Located upstairs is the open plan spacious lounge/sitting room.

It is well furnished with a double leather chesterfield sofa bed, 2 seater sofa and chair, dining room table and chairs, a wood burning stove, TV with satellite box & DVD player and has a great view of Tobermory and the bay. Private parking is available at the rear of the cottage.

Porch & kitchen
The cottage has its own separate porch which leads into a designer kitchen which is fully equipped with a large fridge with freezer, large dishwasher, Samsung island cooker – Neff double oven, double sink, microwave and John Lewis washing machine and the usual mod cons…the kitchen floor is paved with slate slabs. The water is heated by a boiler which is also boosted by solar tubing.

Double Bedroom
Double bedroom with own built in wardrobe. In the wardrobe you can also find an ironing board and iron and a travel cot. The curtains and bed linen are from Laura Ashley and John Lewis. (Single fold down bed is also available for this room - please enquire)

Lounge/Sitting Room
The main lounge/sitting room is a large room with the best views within the cottage of Tobermory Bay. It contains a 4 seater oak dining room table and chairs, LG TV with satellite channels and DVD player, a morso multi fuel stove, a very comfortable chesterfield futon sofa which can be used for sleeping an individual or couple, 1 leather armchair and a matching double sofa.

Shower Room
The shower room is of high quality and contains a Cooke and Lewis shower enclosure and Mira shower and has a hand-basin and WC.

Terraced Balcony

At the front of the kitchen there are double French doors which lead out onto a decking style balcony and has great views over Tobermory and has a secure railing all around the cottage. The decking leads into a private garden. The garden has a covering of granite stones with natural paving stones and has potted plants and bamboos and other interesting plant life with an oriental flavour.

Conditions

Short term lets come up from time to time especially during out of season. Please enquire.

Any animal must be treated for fleas, tics etc. before arrival and they must have their own bedding, towels and owners must agree not to leave pets on their own in the cottage or let them up on the furniture. We ask that pet owners agree to give the cottage a thorough clean before they leave as no extra charge has been included in the overall tariff.

No smoking allowed within the cottage.

Weekly lets preferred (Saturday to Saturday) however, shorter lets will be considered depending on the time of the year (out of season or if dates become available closer to the time of a later enquriy)

You can either drive or fly into Glasgow or Edinburgh Airport, and then drive to Oban, Argyll, Scotland, and then take the Caledonian MacBrayne ferry from Craignure to Oban (50 minutes). Both cottages located in Tobermory which is 30 minutes drive from Craignure.

“Immaculate, cosy home from home” I absolutely loved staying at Taigh Ciuil. I was looking to 'get away from it all' and the cottage was absolutely perfect - warm, comfortable, very clean, beautifully decorated and with everything you could wish for in self-catering accommodation. Tobermory harbour is visible from the kitchen, bedroom and lounge - it was just lovely waking up to hear the sea birds and opening the curtains to see the sea and Calne Island. The cottage is close to the centre of Tobermory (just 3 mins walk and you're harbourside) and have the benefits of being close to the shops, but far enough away to not feel like you're absolutely in the thick of it. I would recommend the cottage to anyone looking to stay on Mull. Tobermory is a fantastic base from which to explore Mull - I drove the stunning scenic route over to Fionnphort to make the trip to Staffa and Iona; visited Calgary Bay (beautiful beach and headland) and Dervaig; headed up to Ardmore... Craignure is just 40 minutes away when you need to get the ferry back. Next time I just need a longer stay to make the most of it! I'll definitely be back.

“Superb” Lovely cottage with all mod con's and fabulous views. Very warm (didn't even need to use the stove) and cosy. Tobermory itself is a lovely place and we found plenty to do, even with it being out of season.

“Fantastic House and Location” My wife and I stayed at Taigh Ciuil for 7 nights in September for our 30th anniversary. The house was wonderful with every convenience and glorious views over the harbour. We found very little to criticise as the place was well appointed and spotlessly clean. Location was excellent being just a 10 minute walk from Tobermory town centre. The locals were friendly and helpful. This is a place that I would definitely return to as it provides an atmosphere of relaxation and conviviality that I have rarely experienced anywhere else in the world. Only small issue is that we would liked to have had control of the central heating timing as on a couple of mornings when we got up early the heating was not on and the house was chilly. Otherwise, fantastic!!

“Great base from which to explore Mull” Had a lovely stay at Taigh Ciuil. Weather was very favourable and we enjoyed exploring every corner of the island and spotting lots of wildlife. Cottage conveniently based in Tobermory which has a Co-op, bank, post office and plenty of lovely gift shops. Views from the upper floor of the cottage were fantastic - overlooking Tobermory bay with many little boats coming and going. Accomodation has absolutely everything that you would need for a self-catering break. Bring your own disposable type BBQ as there isn't one available.

“Perfect base to explore the Isle of Mull” Accommodation is ideal for one or two people. Excellent position with great views over Tobemory. Very comfortable cottage with everything one could need for a lovely holiday. Close to shops, bars and restaurants but quite a steep hill back to the cottage. I would recommend it to friends and family.
