The Hebrides/Skye region

The Outer Hebrides is a group of islands off the west coast of Scotland, with a rich variety of landscape, seascape, culture, outdoor activities and the arts. The area has some of Britain's most spectacular scenery. You'll find imposing mountains, fabulous seascapes, remote villages, as well as a wealth of local culture, Scottish and Gaelic. You'll certainly be sure of a warm welcome. Walk on unspoilt beaches in the summer, traverse windy mountainous paths at any time of year, see snow covered peaks in winter.

The ferry from the Isle of Skye out to the Outer Hebrides takes 1 hour 40 minutes, and flights from Inverness to Stornoway take just 40 minutes. It's a remarkable journey by land and sea crossing, with the likelihood of seeing a variety of sea-life and sea birds.

If you have never been as far out as the Outer Hebrides, there's never been a better time to come. Get away from the hustle and bustle: discover your Hebridean side today.

Isle of Harris

The Isle of Harris, nestling in the middle of the Outer Hebrides archipelago, is home to a fantastic mix of scenery and wildlife. With almost deserted white shell-sand beaches on the west side, to rocky coves on the east, and spectacular hill walking to the north, there is a wealth of beauty in this quite location. Peaceful and calm, and sparsely populated, Harris is nevertheless home to a number of artists and craftspeople - Harris Tweed weavers, landscape painters, ceramicists and fine art photographers. There is a lively music scene with ceilidhs and Gaelic song, and a series of arts events through the year. But you make just like to come and chill out, to enjoy the wild and wonderful views and find a moment of peaceful calm. The Isle of Harris is the antidote to city living!
