The Central Scotland/Strathclyde region

Scotland is a great destination for a city break at any time of year. Edinburgh has much to offer like the architecture, history, culture, as well as superb shops, restaurants, bars, cafés and nightlife.

Edinburgh is also one of Europe’s most beautiful cities and offers a wealth of attractions to interest our visitors: From Edinburgh Castle and Holyrood palace at either end of the famous Royal mile in the medieval Old town to the Georgian elegance of New town. There is much to explore in this wonderful place.

Isle of Cumbrae

Millport is the only town on the small island of Great Cumbrae, just offshore from Largs on the Ayrshire coast. The town curves around an attractive hilly bay on the south coast of the island.

The town possesses Britains smallest cathedral, the episcopal Cathedral of Argyll & the Isles, which was completed in 1851 to a design by William Butterfield, an enthusiastic member of the High Church Oxford Movement and one of the leading Gothic revival architects of the day, responsible for several high-profile buildings such as Keble College, Oxford.

A mile or so back along the south shore to the east is the Robertson Museum & Aquarium.

"Excellent, Fabulous Views, Lots of Space"

We had a fabulous week at the Haven despite the fact that the Island had mostly closed down for the season and that the weather was rainy.
The Haven was spacious and bright with lots of living space and fantastic views from the front of the house from the Sleeping Warrior on Arran across to the town of Millport.
The photographs don't do the house justice.
The Lounge and the kitchen dining area were huge, happy, areas with plenty of space to live, cook, eat, store and enjoy and have a little privacy too, for us and 4 teenagers.
The house was very well equipped:- washer, dishwasher, great heating, several drying areas, porch and much more.
The beaches were beautiful, and the Island roads were great for walking, cycling and running, all with fantastic views.
We shopped on the Island, a little more expensive and not supermarket variety but the food shops were well stocked and open every day.
Highly recommended, we will certainly use the Haven when holidaying at Millport.

"A Haven in more ways than one!"

We just come back from a glorious week in Millport and can't recommend this house highly enough. It's in a perfect location - the patio gets any sun to be had from noon till sunset. It's really well equipped for kids with stacks of games and DVDs. We've stayed closer to the shops and the kids were never out of Mapes, so the fact it was a five minute cycle ride to the shops actually suited us better. Just across the road is a perfect place for jumping/swimming off the rocks and there was a lovely walk for the dog, two minutes up the road. If you're after a good, old fashioned family holiday, this is the place to stay.
