About the home

* La Hacienda is located just 5 minutes from the beach, on the Islantilla Golf Complex. The area of the Costa de la Luz is often described in travel articles as one of Spain’s best kept secrets. It has the true charm of Spain and the whole area has been maintained to the highest standards. New facilities are always popping up - from the 7km promenade to the children's play areas on the beach and the new shopping and restaurant facilities. You can see that the Spanish are in love with this area and the Brits who have recently discovered the area have found out why.

Apart from the large swimming pool and the challenging golf course on our complex there are 6 other golf courses within an easy drive. There are also new tennis facilities within walking distance from the apartment - you can choose from sand and hard courts or have a go at the popular paddle tennis. Or just 15 minutes away you can enjoy the facilities of a tennis club, have a try at go-karting or go horse riding.

All of these facilities are available in this coastal nature reserve area of this remarkable coast line.

The Costa de la Luz region

The Costa de la Luz (Coast of light) is the western part of the Andalucía coastline that faces out to the Atlantic. The sand is finer and a more golden colour than the neighbouring Costa del Sol.

The typical beaches here are more expansive and backed by sand dunes and pine trees. This part of the coast has not seen the high-rise hotel development of other areas. The temperatures are slightly milder and the often strong Atlantic winds and waves are favoured by wind surfers and surfboarders alike.

The Costa de la Luz is a fabulous area where you can spend as little time as a weekend or plan a 2 to 3 week break. Just 20 minutes drive from Portugal and only 45 minutes from Faro airport - giving you the choice of the best of both the Spanish and Portuguese golf courses. You can also take a day trip up to Seville or spend your time exploring the magnificent coast line and local towns

Beautiful golden sands and small seaside towns devoted to national tourism. From west to east: Ayamonte, Isla Cristina, Islantilla (modern complex), La Antilla, El Rompido, Punta Umbria.

The Islantilla / Campo de Golf area

Down the road from Islantilla is the fascinating cowboy town of El Terron which is well worth a visit during festival times. The local residents of Lepe and La Antilla dress in their finest Spanish outfits and make their way on horseback to El Terron for a very lively evening.

Other great places to visit include Ayamonte, Huelva, El Rompido, Nuevo Portil and Seville. Or just take a drive up into the mountains and explore the local villages.

The nearest airport is Faro which is about 45minutes drive. There are no border controls so hiring a car in Portugal and driving across to Spain is simply a matter of driving across the bridge. Alternatively you can drive down from Seville which takes a little over an hour.

We can recommend a very reasonable car hire company who meet you in Faro, no queuing, no hastles.

“Great golf and shopping trip” First of all dealing with the owners and the checking in process was all made very easy. The apartment was spotless on arrival and there is safe underground parking. There was ample room for 4 people, and the bonus is the west facing balcony overlooking the pool and the top floor sun terrace. We were there as a couple with 2 friends. The weather was good even fairly late in the year. Good golf course on the complex and plenty of choice nearby. Good shopping a short drive away in Huelva. Ample choice of restaurants, including some nice beach front ones. All in all very relaxing and we hope to go again soon.

The apartment and welcome pack were great. We had a fabulous holiday, the weather was sunny everyday, so we spent our time on the solarium, soaking up the sun and watching the wildlife, luckily we had brought our binoculars!!!
