Kod Kriza
About the home
The property comprises two stone houses (rented together) which sit on two sides of a secluded swimming pool (9x4.5m) and garden area overlooking the views. In the new house there are 3 double bedrooms each with independent entrances from outside. The master bedroom is very spacious and has a large double bed, two small sofabeds and spacious ensuite bathroom with bath and washing machine. Ideal for a family sleeping in the same room as young children. On the other side of the new house is another double room and a twin room. These rooms each have independent access from outside but are also interconnected via a shared bathroom. Above the new house is a wonderful roof terrace with outstanding views of the coast which is a great place for evening drinks. In front of the new house is a lovely covered terrace area overlooking the views. In the old house (cca 7m away from the new house at right angles) is a large open plan living room and dining area, small kitchen, twin bedroom (beds can be pushed together to make a double) and bedroom. There is also a storeroom for garden / pool equipment, fridge/freezer and some auxiliary kitchen equipment. On the terrace area between the two houses is a covered outdoor kitchen and barbeque area, the pool, covered eating area and shady area with hammocks hanging between dwarf oak trees. At the front of the property is a large parking area, boules pitch. (Boules supplied at the house) and a wild garden area where a variety of maritime pine trees, cypresses and wild oregano, thyme and rosemary grow. In case of bad weather there is a TV, DVD and stereo in the living room and also a fire place (but we really hope you won't be needing that!) Kod Kriza is finished to a very high standard with modern fittings, fixtures & furnishings throughout

The Dalmatia region
Dalmatia is the most visited area of Croatia. WIth over 1100 white stone islands dotting the azure sea, Dalmatia is the jewel in the crown so to speak. With unspeakable beauty and a penchant to charm even the most fastidious of visitors, Dalmatia is quite simply, amazing. Dalmatian cuisine is one of the most healthiest in the world. Be spoilt for choice.
The Island of Brac / Pucisca area
Brac is the third largest Croatian island with an area of about 396 km; 36 km long and 12 km wide. Its highest peak Vidova Gora, 778m above sea level, is also the highest peak of all the Croatian islands. There are 23 small villages on the island with a total population of about 13,000. The island of Brac has something for everyone. Brac is famous for high quality stone, which was used for many cultural monuments in Croatia and abroad. It is also well known for its Zlatni rat (Golden Horn) beach located outside of the town of Bol. The beach is a favourite destination for surfers and water sports enthusiasts. In the smaller villages on the island such as Milna, Supetar or Bobovišce you can easily find peace and quiet in the stone architecture. Anyone wishing to experience the atmosphere of a fishing village might wish to visit Positra, a small village near the bay of Lovrecina, an ideal spot for a fish picnic.

Nice pool with stunning views accross to mainland. Only one local cafe in sleepy Praznica village - need car for accessing shops and coastal villages. Bol is busy and Zlatni Rat beach is beautiful and popular, and the windsurfing school looked excellent. Best restaurant is Vagabonda. Don't hire a boat off Goran - ours had an dodgy engine and the service was unacceptable. The Excursions are a better bet in any case as the water can get a bit choppy off Bol in the afternoons so small boats are uncomfortable. Pucesca , the nearest coastal village, was our favourite - quieter, nice bathing place, nice cafes, good little shops, and very pretty. Sandy beach some 15 minutes drive north very suitable for children or older person, but busy. Hvar Island/town well worth a visit. Dubrovnik is spectacular, but too big an effort to get there by ferry and driving, and choc a bloc with tourists. Arrive 1 to 2 hours before ferry departure time. Ferry to Makarska from Sumartin (another pretty village) is small - about 24 vehicles. Makarska is busy resort. |

My family and I stayed at Kod Kriza with another family and had a wonderful, relaxing time. The children loved swimming in the pool, the locals were friendly and helpful. The views from the villa were stunning and the villa itself was just like in the photos. The landscaping is lovely and the terrace is very easy to enjoy together with the BBQ facilities. Everything was simply easy. The location is remote but easy to get to. Bol beach was an easy drive away and a big hit, especially with the children. We were surprised how many interesting sights there were to see on Brac and had it not been such a short vacation we would have gone on lots of hikes. The pizza at Josip's (I think) was also surprisingly good as the village is a bit quiet and not on the tourist radar at all. One of our party is a botanist with a serious interest in entomology and he enthused over the local specimens! The only down side of our stay was that it was very hot and none of the rooms had air conditioning. We would definitely come back to Kod Kriza and Brac again! |
