The Dalmatia region

Dalmatia is Soutern region of Croatia. It has mediterranian climate with dry and hot summer months (36C) and mild winters (12C). Sea temperature during the summer months is in average of 24C.The richness of Middle Dalmatia is really diverse, and does not apply only to the sun,natural resources, turbulent history, beauty of the Mediterranean and continental dishes, but also the cultural heritage which shaped generations of fisherman, farmers,scientists, athletes ...

To peek in the soul of Dalmatia is not easy. It should be enjoyed, often and slowly.

Island of Brac is located near two monuments of the world cultural heritage under UNESCO protection,

Trogir and Diocletian's Palace in Split. Brac is very well connected to the mainland and the rest of the

world with Brac International Airport during the main season. This largest and the highest of the Dalmatian

island is a true oasis of unspoiled nature, authentic architecture and glorious serenity found in some past

and long forgotten times.

World known white stone from Brac was used to build some of the world's most famous buildings , such as

Diocletian Palace in Split, and the White House in Washington.

Island villages still fascinates every visitor with it’s beauty and the purity of their traditional architecture:

stone houses, chimneys, wells, balconies with bougainvillea, church steeple, streets paved with white stone

or sea pebbles.

All this testifies to the wisdom and diligence of its inhabitants, and generations that have soaked the life out of stone, sun and sea.

Island of Brac

Area: 395 km 2;

Population: 14,000;

Length: 40 km;

Average width: 13 km;

Highest point: Vidova gora, 778 m

Villages: 22 (plus 12 smaller villages and 5 deserted villages)

Climate: Mediterranean;

5700 hours of sunny days per year;

Brac is the lagest Dalmatian island with a tallest peak at 778m above the sea level.

Places to visit are Supetar, Milna, Bol, Pucisca querries and it's School of Sculpture, Dragons Cave, Blaca Monestary, gallery of fine arts in Bol, museum in Skrip.

Sutivan is small fisherman's village with autenthic Dalmatian architecture, located on the northwest tip of the island of Brac. This tranquil village with 600 inhabitants was built on the gentle slopes that surround its beautiful harbor.

Sutivan is characterized by beautiful promenades along the sea and the carefully manicured gardens, which abound with greenery and flowers.

Being one of the hottest places on the Adriatic with characteristics of the typically Mediterranean climate

makes vacation in Sutivan very pleasant.

Days are hot and perfect for swimming or doing some of the water activities. Nights are cool and pleasant to relax and sleep.

Sutivan beaches are known for their outstanding beauty. To the west are more than twenty unique small and large bays and beaches where in solitude you can enjoy sun tanning and swimming in the crystal clear sea. During the peak season, at the hottest days you can find shade in the Mediterranean pine trees, or just under the tamarisk along the shore.

With its beauty and pleasant amenities Sutivan is an ideal place to escape city bustle and enjoy full mental and physical relaxation.

In restaurants and taverns you can enjoy traditionally prepared foods (home made smoked ham, cheese, lamb, olives) and Seafood (verity of sea shells, fish and crabs) and of course, you have to try some of the great Brac wines.

If during you stay you would like to try out your culinary skills in preparing fish, there is a small fish market on the waterfront, where in the early morning you can find large selection of fishes and shells. Fish can also be bought from the local fishermen whose entering the harbor you can see from our apartment terrace.

Home-grown vegetables and fruits can be purchased at the stands of the small open market in the center of Sutivan (near the post office and tourist office), or you can shop at one of the mini supermarkets.

Certainly the most valuable souvenir that can be taken from the village is local pure virgine olive oil.

Product such as liquors made from olives, roses and lemon, jam’s made of figs and cherries and Brac sweets made of honey, walnuts and almonds, and other authentic souvenirs can be purchased in our family run Souvenir shop "Malo Misto ".

“Malo Misto” has Internet Café and the Currency Exchange office.
