Villa | 4 bedrooms | sleeps 8
Beautiful house by the sea in La Graciosa, a small island located in the Chinijo Archipelago Nature Reserve.
The house is situated in an isolated village established by a community of fishermen in the late 19th century. It has since been completely renovated although the actual structure of the house remains unchanged as it is protected by law. This gives the house a rustic feel whilst enjoying all the comforts of modernity. The house is completely self sustained by solar energy and filtered rain water which is pumped from a private cistern at high pressure. I will refrain from describing the village as I hope the pictures can speak for themselves.
The closest supermarket is 6km away in the town of Caleta del Sebo, taxis can be arranged both by sea and land. The nearest international airport is Arrecife on the Island of Lanzarote. We can arrange transport from the airport to the house, both the taxi to the northernmost port in Lanzarote and the sea taxi to get across to the village. The total cost of transport is approximately 120 euros return, but it can vary depending on the number of travellers.

Isla La Graciosa
Graciosa Island or commonly La Graciosa (Spanish for graceful) is a volcanic island in the Canary Islands of Spain, located 2 km (1.2 mi) north of the island of Lanzarote with the strait named 'El Río'. It was formed by the Canary hotspot. The island is part of Parque Natural del Archipiélago Chinijo, Reserve of the Biosphere, "Marine Reserve of La Graciosa and the islands to the North of Lanzarote" it is linked to the municipality of Teguise. The island forms a part of the Chinijo Archipelago. The village is in the southeastern part of the island with houses encircling the harbor which has two piers and a yacht area in the bay. The only two settlements are Caleta del Sebo and a small village of summer residences named Casas de Pedro Barba. The island is entirely made up of volcanic rock and sands.
The population is 700. Tourism is the main industry along with fishing. Every year, tourists flock to the island for its tempered climate and its sandy volcanic coasts. The island has a school, lyceum, post office, supermarkets, a bank, port, beaches, bars, restaurants and a square where bicycles can be hired (plaza).
Streets and roads on La Graciosa are unpaved. The Gracioseras can often be seen early each morning sweeping the sandy streets smooth of the previous night's footprints. Motor vehicles are strictly prohibited and limited to a handful of licensed vehicles for special purposes. Since the roads are bad, and cars have to be shipped to Lanzarote for repair, about 70% of the motor vehicles on the island are old Land Rovers which often can be repaired by a local serviceman.
Casas de Pedro Barba, in the Canary Islands, Spain, is a small community of summer residences in La Graciosa island. The population is 2 (INE, January 2006). It's part of the municipality of Teguise on Lanzarote. There is a road to the other inhabited place in the island, Caleta de Sebo.
