Wonderful15th century château, accommodating up to 15 people when rented full capacity.
Situated in Normandy, in the Calvados region, on the edge of the Natural Park of Cotentin and Bessin Marshes, Château de Canchy was built in the 15th century and belongs to the same family since 1650.
This impressive and tastefully restored Henri 4 Château is set in 6 acres of grounds with vast open spaces in a quiet environment just a few minutes from the Normandy sandy beaches. The two remaining wings of this ancient fortress open out onto a landscaped garden which in turn extends onto open fields.
An enclosed garden to the side of the château offers quiet shady areas, an attractive vegetable patch, a small decorative pond, a full size bocci court.
The property is made up of the main building, le Château, comfortable for 9 people (4 bedrooms) and two self catering apartments, la Pommeraie and le Loft, each apartment being ideal for a couple but can also sleeps 4 people in 2 separate single beds.
Each of the 3 accomodations can be rented separately or all together at the same time.

The property is made up of the main building, le Château, comfortable for 9 people and two self catering apartments, la Pommeraie and le Loft, sleeping up to 4 people each.
The main house is situated in the two remaining wings of the Château. Recently refurbished with taste and comfort, retaining the beams, the polished terra cotta floors, and carved stone fireplaces, le Château can accommodate 9 people.
With a total of 6 700 sq ft spread out over 3 floors, the main house comprises:
Ground-floor:
- 3 sitting rooms (Salon d'hiver, Bureau et Grand Salon), a dining room, kitchen, utility room and separate WC.
First floor:
- 3 bedrooms, all with stone fireplaces, the "Chambre Beige" equipped with four-poster 1.6m bed, the "Chambre Rose" a double with a 1.6m bed, or two single beds as needed, and the "dormitory" has 3 four foot beds.
- 3 bathrooms all with WCs.
Second floor:
- 1 bedroom, the "Chambre de la Tour" with stone fireplace and a four-poster 1.6m bed.
- 1 bathroom with WC.
La Pommeraie:
A few meters away from the Château, la Pommeraie is a cute little gingerbread cottage from the outside, with the cool, stylish simplicity of a loft on the inside. It consists of a large open living room furnished with a white leather sofa, two single sofa-beds, a vast stone fireplace. The decor is confined to stylish grey and white.
The kitchen is in the same colour with a table for four.
Overlooking the living room is a spacious double bedroom with a 2.3m king size bed on the mezzanine and a velux window flooding the room with sunlight and warmth. Shower room with WC on the ground floor.
This charming little house, benefiting from an amazing view on the Normandy's sunset can sleep up to 4 people.
Private garden, internet acces through WIFI and flat screen TV through satellite and foreign channels. Cot bed available on demand.
Le Loft:
Château de Canchy’s old stables have been converted into a spacious (810 sq ft), cozy, full service ‘Loft Apartment’ situated on the ground floor of the private wing of the Château. It sleeps 4 and is perfect for a family with 2 children with a sleeping area (private) for a couple, a full kitchen, dining area, sitting area with single sofa-beds; large bathroom with tub in the middle, a free standing shower, two sinks, washer, dryer, TV. Own private entrance accessible for wheelchair.
Linen and Laundry included in the rental price. Bed linens and towels are provided and changed weekly for longer term lets.
Notes on facilities: Gym with treadmill, weights, a static bike. Sauna with outdoor shower.
Kitchen in the main house equipped with 6 ring gas cooker, 2 dish washer, American fridge, microwave oven, toaster, blenders. Place settings for 15 people.
Laundry room with washing machines (for 10k loads) tumble dryer, iron and ironing board, household linen. WIFI broadband, satellite television, DVD player.
For children: high chairs, cots, linen.
Books/ tourist guides/ maps on site/ board games.

Château de Canchy is an ideal place to provide you with a unique accomodation experience. All you have to do is choose between a nap under a weeping willow, relaxing in the Sauna, exercising in the gym or playing Bocci on the 18 metres field.
Château de Canchy has a table tennis, croquet and badminton, moutain-bikes, library providing books, board games and playing cards for adults and children, garden furniture including barbacue, tables, benches, chairs, parasols to cater for 15 people..
You can take in the countryside on the 6 mountain bikes at your disposal at the Château. There is a pond with a rowing boat near the house. Basketball hoop.

The Normandy / Calvados region
At only 2.45 hours from Paris and 20 minutes from the medieval town of Bayeux, half way between Deauville and Le Mont Saint Michel, Château de Canchy offers the perfect opportunity to unearth Normandy's treasures.
Plunge into Normandy's history and walk in the footsteps of William the Conqueror, Duke of Normandy and first Norman King of England: the town of Bayeux with its famous tapestry listed as "Memory of the World" by UNESCO and its 11th century cathedral, the city of Caen with its fortress, abbeys and beautiful Ducal Castle.
The Isigny sur Mer / Canchy area
Discover Normandy's more recent history and have a tour on its landing beaches, visit the various sites and museums dedicated to the Normandy Battle. The Battle of Normandy Historical Area is a veritable open-air museum covering the three departements of Calvados, Manche and Orne, and includes all the sites, museums and memorials associated with D-Day and the invasion.
Omaha Beach and American Cemetary, the celebrated DDay museum at Arromanches, the Point du Hoc and the Caen Memorial are all near by. Canchy is only 10 minutes away from Omaha Beach and the impressive American Cemetery which was featured in the beginning of S. Spielberg's film "Saving Private Ryan".
Thanks to a rich historical past, Bayeux and the Bessin region have a fine architectural heritage: châteaux, stud farms, manor farms and abbeys. During your stay at Canchy do not miss the Juaye-Mondaye Abbey, Châteaux de Colombières and Balleroy which are just minutes away from the Château.
Golfing enthusiasts are well catered for with Omaha Beach Golf Club offering two dramatic 18 hole course both overlooking the cliffs and sea, also the new 18 hole course at Pesqu'ile du contentin with it's fabulous view of Tahitou Island.

For a group of 15 people, possibility to rent the whole property: Main Building + Loft and Guest House, up to 15 people: 3 700 pounds per week in high season; 3 200 euro in low season
Fixed price including: reception, linen hiring (bed linen and towels), cleaning the last day of rental, wood for the chimneys, water, gas and electricity, central heating and Internet.
25% at booking, 75% 4 weeks before arrival.
Deposit £ 1,000 for the main house
Arriving at Château de Canchy from 16:00 onwards you will be greeted by Laurence who will give you a tour of the Chateau and make sure you are comfortable. The beds will already be made up and you will be able to make yourselves at home straight away. Should you wish dinner to be prepared for you this can be arranged as well as breakfast. We would be delighted to meet any special requests you may have to make sure you have a wonderful stay. There is a grocery store 3 km away in the village of La Cambe. Departure time will be at 10 a.m. the following Saturday.
