The Aberdeenshire region
Aberdeenshire is famous for its sea fishing and farming communities. Whilst the fishing industry had declined there are still active ports amonst the many harbour villages and towns. Fresh sea fair is available in local shops and restaurants. Farming still dominates the rolling landscape with farmshops selling meats and produce directly from the farm.
The famous Whisky Trail invites visitors to some of the most renowned distilleries in Scotland each determined to prove the quality of their own brand. The awe inspiring castle trail is a must for anyone with an interst in Scottish history, achitecture and it's people's culture.
Anglers are spolied for choice with Aberdeenshire's many excellent game fishing rivers and still water lochs. Similarly golfers have the opportunity to play some of the most popular courses in the UK.
In winter time Glen Shee and The Lecht ski centres are easily accessible.
Throughout the summer there are highland games and agricultural shows / events taking place at numerous towns around the county.
Little Hardford is surrounded by many villages and small towns. Tarves village, less than 10 minutes drive has a well stocked shop and post office, as does Oldmeldrum where there is also Glen Garioch distillery.
Inverurie is a bustling market town with a good selection of shops, cafes and restaurants. There is a bowling alley, swimming pool and sports centre. Scenic walks along the banks of the river Don. Rail links to Abredeen, Edinburgh and Inverness.
Within a short drive from Little Hardford there are numerous places of interest and National Trust properties, e.g. Haddo House, Tolquhon Castle and gallery, Fyvie Castle and Pimedden Gardens.
Several golf courses within easy reach.
