The Highlands region

Inverness is known as the "Capital of the Highlands", and should be on the itinerary for any visitor to Scotland. From Inverness, you can reach some of the most remote parts of Scotland and return within a day, such as the mountains of Torridon, John O'Groats, Applecross, and Ardnamurchan.

From Inverness, It is easy to visit many of the landscapes, castles and lochs which make Scotland famous such as the Black Isle, the Cairngorms. the coastline of the Moray Firth and sandy beaches of Nairn and Findhorn, Castle Urquhart, Cawdor Castle, Loch Ness and Loch Morlich . The city itself is delightful with its riverside walks and gardens . Eden Court Theatre , the Castle dominating the skyline, and the many restaurants and bars that add vibrance and atmosphere. There is a large swimming/fitness/ leisure complex in Inverness, plenty of handy golf courses and lots of local fishing available both on sea and river. You can sail down the Caledonian Canal to Loch Ness or take a boat trip on the Moray Firth to dolphin watch. the Cottage is within easy walking distance of all the City Centre facilities and shops.
