"Lovely house and garden excellent size for energetic kids and adults!!"

House was very nice inside, rooms all of a reasonable size. Master bed with door onto veranda very pleasant although a bit noisy if there is clomping around upstairs. Open plan great . Everything we needed in kitchen, furniture comfortable and more than enough areas to sit and relax. Loved the balcony and strangely not bothered by midgies much up there. Could have done with coat hooks(lots) either at the front door or back as it was a pest not being able to hang your coat up although not the end of the world. We were disappointed the hammock wasn't there and the 2 swing seats were damaged and quite worn out. The trampoline however was great, between it and the large garden the kids had a great time. Never saw the deer but did manage to entice a few birds in to the feeders. Overall a pleasant week and a great house to relax in.

Thanks for your review...hooks are now in place! Never crossed my mind before, so thank you. Unfortunately the wild highland weather has taken its toll on the tree swings....but these will be replaced for next spring/summer, aswell as the hammock. You should come back and try them out!!

"Comfortable warm house in a beautiful location"

Heath Gate Cottage. This house attracted us from the outside picture, but inside it was lovely too - very comfortable and easy to live in. Nice and warm (very insulated against the -5 night time temperatures outside) and with a nice open plan living area. Bedrooms and bathrooms were spacious and nicely presented.

We loved the area, it was stunningly beautiful while we were there, the snowy peaks and blue skies reflected in the nearby lakes.

"Heath Lodge - we loved this house and the area."

We have stayed twice in Heath Lodge, one of the other houses, (click on the link to the owners own website to see Heath Lodge), last June and the previous year (2011). Because we were just a couple, we were given 40% discount - no complaints there! The house was next to the road but the road is very quiet and the view is across open land towards the hills. The decor and furniture is quite contemporary and we loved the open plan living. There is a very efficient log burning stove which we lit a couple of times just to try it out and have now added one to our own home! Yes the houses are in a remove hamlet but it is just 3 miles to Loch Ness where there is a small store for milk etc and a cafe. There are some good walks from the house - one around a Loch and another through the forest. The road to Fort Augustus is very picturesque, as is the road from the A9 to the house and of course alongside Loch Ness. It's a great area for cycling, although the roads are narrow and may be dangerous for children. It's a fabulous place to spend a peaceful, relaxing holiday and I am happy to recommend the house that we stayed in.

Thanks for the lovely comments, and we hope you will make it back for a 3rd visit!!

"Nice house but remote !"

This is a nice looking house but be prepared for it being remote. Unlike other reviews we did not find the house to be very clean. It was very dusty with food on the kitchen floor and the outside balcony was very dirty and there was no way we were going to use the rusty BBQ .
Many lights in the house were not working which was a slight bother and we had problems with the oven not working. Also the windows are a main feature upstairs for looking out onto the garden and they were very dirty which spoiled the whole effect. There is no view as such from the house , it just looks into the garden.
We were lucky enough to see the deer a few times which was wonderful !
Also the house is open plan and can be quiet noisey at times , usually the first one up in the morning would waken up the rest of the house by just walking on the floor upstairs or making a cup of tea and clattering the dishes.
Overall it's a nice house, but be prepared there is nowhere to walk to for a bottle of milk, newspaper or a pint. Would recommend the Dores Inn for good food but will need to book a table during high season.

Thank you for your review. Sorry that you were not completely happy with your stay, but this is the first you have mentioned it since your stay 5 months ago. Any issues that crop up during a stay are usually rectified immediately, so it would have been nice to have been given that chance. We do advertise the house as being remote, which is why the majority of people tend to visit....a relaxing and peaceful break, yet only 20 mins drive to the city. We had a change of cleaners around that time which may have been the cause of your problem, but again, had you informed me on arrival, i would have resolved this immediately. I hope these issues didnt spoil your holiday too much though. Many thanks.

"A wonderful place to stay!"

We enjoyed a wonderful week in a great house and beautiful environment.
The House ist very clean and very comfortable equipped. It has four very nice bedrooms and three bathrooms, so there is enough space for about six oder seven persons to stay.
The surrounding area ist wonderful. You hear nothing but twittering birds and the sounds of the beautiful nature around. In the very early morning we could watch the deers walking around the house while drinking some coffee upstairs at the dining table. We will definitly come back again!

Thank you for the lovely review...and we look forward to seeing you all back at The Heath again!
