The Scottish Highlands region
Set on the beautiful Black Isle (really a peninsula), the house has the benefit of the Cairngorm mountains to the south, with swimming, sailing, wind-surfing & sandy beach at Loch Morlich (40 mins), & ski-ing in season at Aviemore.
The West has stunning mountain & coastal scenery, Ullapool is 1 hour by road, & the famous sub-tropical Inverewe Gardens (NT) near Gairloch.
North takes you to Sutherland & the Appin peninsula, the 'last wilderness in Europe".
You can follow the highland whisky trail in all directions. Beaches, hill-walking, cycling, golf, castles…..
The house is in an SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest) due to the huge numbers of sea & wading birds that can be found on the shore by the house, so it is a bird-watchers delight.
Golfers are served by many award-winning courses; 3 are within 15 mins drive, & a further 3 within 30 mins.
Our local boatman, Rolf, offers boat trips to see dolphins from our village pier in summer months, in his unique solar-powered boat, 'New Era'.
There are walks or cycle tracks from the house to take in views of the water & surrounding hills.
North Kessock (1 mile) has a village shop conveniently open 7 days a week (with bank & post office services), a hotel with bar & restaurant, & local cafe. Children love the free Dolphin Information centre (up the steps behind the shop).
Inverness (10 mins by car across Kessock Bridge) has excellent shopping, also cinema, theatre, bars, clubs & award-winning restaurants. (Try Rocpool….)

"Very nice, but international banking fees excessive"
Great location on the water with easy driving access to Inverness. Great accomodations for our family group of 8. International banking fees were a significant expense since we had to pay both ends … More
Thanks for your comments. We agree that international bank fees are too high, & we do state before booking for our non-UK guests, that payment of the rental charge excludes any bank transfer costs charged by their bank. We also note that international transfer costs from outside EU area are higher than within EU - why? Nonetheless, glad you enjoyed your stay.
