The Florida / Florida Gulf Coast region

In the marvellous vicinity of Inverness there are countless opportunities to practice cycling, walking, fishing or taking a boat and enjoying the countryside.

In Homosassa , at half an hours drive from Inverness and on the Gulf of Mexico, a boat can be rented to navigate on clear creeks with a constant temperature of 22ºC. One of the many reasons why the manatees visit the estuaries. Then you can go out to the gulf and search for the dolphins in the area or you can take a river cruise.

Ocala is situated about half an hour drive from Inverness. In Ocala one can find a lot of modern shopping malls and good restaurants. Ocala is famous for its horse farms and its Silver Springs theme park.

To the South, in and around Orlando (one hour drive) you find the big theme parks such as Disney World, Epcot Centre, Sea World, Universal Studio's and, last but not least, the well-known factory outlets and the enormous Florida Mall. To the North-East of Tampa (one hour and 15 minutes drive) lies Busch Gardens, a themepark based on the large African Plains with all the animals typical for that part of the world. Connected to this theme park you can visit the Budweiser beer brewery - owner of this theme park - free-of-charge.

To the East of Inverness, at roughly 2 hours driving distance you will find a must see in Florida : the Kennedy Space Centre, from where the astronauts were launched for the Moon missions and the Space Shuttle. see Kennedy Space Centre and NASA.

Further to the South of Florida, on the WestCoast (Gulf of Mexico) the state offers long, white sandy beaches surrounded by palm trees where magnificent sunsets can be admired. Visit the little town of Captiva on Sanibel Island and then drive farther South to see the Everglades, with its crocodile farms and Indian reservations.

Also further South, but on the East coast of Florida not-to-be-missed Miami, with its famous Miami Beach , its musea and its Art Deco area, and from there drive along US1 over the Florida Keys (small islands) to Key West, former home of Hemingway and the most Southern town of the USA.

Inverness is capital of Citrus County famous for its citrus plantations, lakes and forests. It is peacefull, rural and away from the tourist buzz but remains conveniently close to the major theme parks and the magical Space Coast.
A little bit to the North of Inverness is Ocala, famous for it's horse farms.

How to get there

The nearest International Airports are Orlando and Tampa. (Reaching these destinations from Brussels or Amsterdam generally require one transfer, either in Europe or in the USA). The most practical connection is via Atlanta , from where Orlando and Tampa can easily be reached on a short flight.

Cars can be hired from both Orlando and Tampa airports from the most commonly known car rental companies such as Avis, Hertz, Dollar and Alamo. Inverness is situated approximately 60 miles North of Tampa and Orlando. A good hour drive should get you there.

The villa is located in peaceful surroundings at the Lakeside Golf and Country Club close to Inverness, capital of Citrus County.

The villa is recently constructed and offers private comfortable accommodation for up to 8 guests in 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms with a large private, heated pool (5m x 10m), a large living room, kitchen, separate laundry room and double garage and is surrounded by a landscaped garden.

It is fully air-conditioned and equipped with Wi-Fi, a large flat High Definition screen television, dvd player and sound system, washer and dryer, dishwasher, typical American fridge and a microwave oven.

In the bed- and bathrooms you'll find all the necessary towels and linnen.

Golfers' Paradise
Green fees at the Golf Club (18 holes, par 72) are included in the villa rental.

Aside from this Golf Course you can - also free-of-charge - play on 3 Golf Clubs in the vicinity amongst which the Citrus Springs Golf Course which is very spectacular and challenging. Like most American Golf Courts the use of a buggy is mandatory.
