Home description

A modern chalet about 200m from the lake in Bonigen, a quiet village on the outskirts of Interlaken. Flat lakeside walks or some challenging scrambles within minutes from the house. Easy car or public transport links to the famous mountains (Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau) of the area, rope parks, swimming pools, ice rinks and the town of Interlaken.

Well equipped house and used by the owners as their home. We would welcome you to our home and ask you to treat it with care! Small garden and patio, off road parking.

The Bern/Obwalden region

An amazing year round holiday destination, lake and facilities (including heated open air pool) in the village. A wealth of mountains to walk in, including the trains up to the year round snow on the Jungfraujoch and the cablecars to Schilthorn. Lots of money saving tickets mean that the prices (which look eye wateringly expensive at first glance) can be heavily discounted (for example a ticket is available that gives children under 16 free travel) A short drive and train ride and you can be on the ski slopes ( about 40 minutes to your first downhill), but please notes that whilst lots ski from the Bonigen (including the ski instructors who live here!) it it not a traditional skiing resort and is very quiet in the evenings

You may want to make your own discoveries but we are happy to talk through your hopes for your holiday and share any ideas and tips we may have. Hopefully you will share your ideas for special places with us too!

Interlaken area

Mountains, lakes, climbing, canyoning, white water rafting, skiing (in winter), year round glacer walking, local restaurants, swimming in the lake (cold), swimming pools (warm), museums, city of Berne about 50 minutes by car, Luzern easily day trippable, tunnel through to French speaking Switzerland from neighbouring valley. We love just walking in the meadows, looking at the old chalets and having a good rest.

How to get there

Located near the Brienz lake on outskirts of Interlaken with boat and bus connections to Interlaken Ost train station. Good train connections direct to Geneva and Zurich airports and (just as fast but slightly more complicated) connections to Basel airport. We drive from Calais and it takes us just over 8 hours including meal stops (but is a bit of a slog)

2 bunks included in the bed count, but also additional pull out beds and mattresses not included in the bed count. Please let us know exactly how many guests to ensure bed linen is in place and that local taxes are paid. Local taxes allow free travel on buses and trains within the immediate area

Bed linen and towels provided and local tourist taxes included (note we do need exact names and numbers of the party so that tax card can be provided). We ask for a 300SFRs deposit on arrival which will be returned. Local English contacts. Whilst we would ask that the property is left clean and tidy the costs included do include cleaning at the end of your stay. There is usually food and drink in the house, we would ask you to replace what you use for the next guest.
