About the home
The holiday home is well equipped and has all the advantages of an apartment plus the special atmosphere and facilities associated with camping "Great for families". Sleeps up to 2 adults and 3 children in comfort, and has a full inventory, drinkable mains water, waste drainage, flush toilet, shower, fridge, 4 burner gas for cooking mains electrical supply for lighting heating. The interior comprises of Main double bedroom and Two/three single beds, a kitchen/lounge area. Blankets or duvets and pillows are supplied, but you will normally need to take your own bed linen and towels (Bed linen for hire see our current price list or ask our staff).
The Holiday home has its own outside sitting area with table and chairs, parking for one car alongside. All maintained and cared for by our resident on site managers throughout the season. From Mid July to Mid August Saturday to Saturday reservations. Other wise you choose the dates and we will even be happy if your touring. We can offer a selected range of different staic mobile home accommodation - please see our website for further information.

The site is served by a regular bus service to Interlaken and Thun. The lake steamer calls close by to take you to the many resorts around the lake. Such facilities make this site ideal for those travelling by air, train or car. The site amenities can only be described as excellent and include FREE showers, laundry room, bathroom, immaculate toilets, washing facilities, shaving points (220 volt), self service shop, washing facilities, ironing & drying room, car washing facilities. There are play areas, mini golf and a private beaches for those wishing to swim, boat, sail or use one of the windsurfers for hire locally. Our site has an excellent restaurant , open all year and takeaway facilities during the high season only. Tourist information, currency exchange and post facilities are also available at the reception.

The Interlaken area
If your seeking a place to visit here are a few activities in the local area:
INTERLAKEN As its name implies, Interlaken is situated between two lakes, Thun and Brienz. Interlaken is one mile from our site set in the heart of the Bernese Oberland. It has museums, cheese making in the Chas Dorf (Little cheese village), Flower clock in the grounds of the Kursaal, Horse drawn carriages, Casino, Heimwehfluh with its model railway and Bob run Sbb model trains. Interlaken has its own mountain the Harder Kulm where you can take a funicular train to the top. Here you can relax in the garden of the mountain restaurant and take in the magnificent view of Interlaken and the surrounding mountains.
TRUMMELBACH* falls. This is a cascade of 10 glacier fed waterfalls inside the mountain. The Trummelbach falls drains the glacier of the Eiger, Monch, and Jungfrau mountains. In full flow the water gushes down at some 18,000 liters per second bringing with it over 20,000 tons of boulders and debris per year. Trummelbach falls is the only glacier fed waterfall in Europe inside a mountain and still accessible to the public. (3 Hours).
SHILTHORN - PIZ GLORIA. Of James Bond fame, this breathtaking Cableway is the longest in the Bernese Oberland. At the summit 10,000 ft the Piz Gloria revolving restaurant provides the perfect vantage point for magnificent views of over 200 mountain peaks. On a clear day you can see Mt Blanc and Pilatus and beyond (4-5 Hours).
JUNGFRAUJOCH - TOP OF EUROPE ( World Heritage area UNESCO )(W)is the highest railway station in Europe, 3454m/11333ft. Probably the most famous train journey in Switzerland. A thrilling tour to the Alpine wonderland of snow and ice which should not be missed. The beautiful scenery of meadows and pastures changes as the train climbs inside the Eiger and emerges among snowcapped mountains, Glaciers and snow fields. At the summit you'll find an Observatory, Research centre, exhibition, Ice Palace and Restaurant. Remember to take with you sun/snow glasses, adequate clothing and flat shoes. This trip is not suitable for anyone with asthma or heart condition.The trip of a lifetime! (6-7 Hours)
ROTHORN From Brienz take a 1 hour train ride up the Rothorn, one of the last steam operated mountain railways in Switzerland. A steam or diesel train will take you to a height of some 7,700ft. On the journey you will pass through forests and pastures. The scenery all the way is breathtaking (4-5 Hours).
BALLENBERG (Cultural open air Museum) near Brienz, is an open air museum of Swiss houses from each region of Switzerland and various other ancient buildings restored and rebuilt as they were many years ago. Spread out over 130 acres, it gives an insight into the way the Swiss used to live. If you visit Ballenberg on a Saturday or Sunday you will often be able to see a selection of crafts, Lace making, Spinning, Wood Carving, Basket Weaving, etc. To see all that Ballenberg has to offer you would need to allow at least 4 to 5 hours and be equipped with comfortable shoes.
MEIRINGEN is Home to the Meringue, but this village is also a beautiful location where Sherlock Holmes finally caught up with his arch-enemy at the Reichenbach falls. Now you can take a funicular to the falls. or visit the Aarecchlucht, a geological crevasse where the only way out for all the upper alpine water is through the Aarecchlucht. Its the end of the line before the rail ways starts its journey up the Brunig to Lucern.
THREE PASS Susten (2224m) Grimsel (2165m)& Furka(2431) Take the road from Interlaken to Meiringen, then follow the signs to Innertkirchen. You will approach the Grimselpass and wind your way further up into the mountains. On reaching the top a height of some 7,000ft take the road marked to Andermatt, you are then on the Furkapass. Visit The Rhone Glacier, this used to be much larger than it is now (you can go inside this glacier). Look out for marmots playing on the mountain side, and the pink blooms of the mountain rose. Eventually you will take the road over the Susten Pass and back to Innertkirchen.
Papiliorama Is an introduction to Butterflies and nature under several large domes ideal for children to see and experience both nature in daylight and the noctorama. Situated near Kerzers.

By Car (We can arrange your Ferry crossing Dover-Calais). With modren motorways the drive is an easy one, through France, Belguim and Switzerland.The average travel time from Calais is 9-12 Hours by road.
By Air to Switzerland is approx one & half to two hours flying time from UK. The main airports are Bern, Zurich & Geneva. Who flies to:- Flybe, Easyjet, British Airways, BMI.
By Rail from UK to Europe takes its final route from Waterloo Station in London. the route you chose will decide the duration of time i.e Switzerland via Paris is around 20 hours. Switzerland Via BRUXELLES is 25 hours.

First, because we arrived very late, our key wating for us with explanation for getting the mobile home. the Altogold crew were very very cooperative and polite about travel advice and maintenance treatment. the environment was clean and cool. |
