The County Cork region

Central to a number of towns and villages in West Cork, Inchigeelagh village is an ideal base for touring the area. 15min drive east to Marcoom, 20min drive west to Gougane Barra.
Easy access to Bantry, Killarney and the Ring of Kerry to the west and Blarney and Cork City to the east.
The Inchigeelagh area
Inchigeelagh village sits at the east end of Lough Allua a beautiful lake spread seven miles along the river Lee valley to Balingeary in the west. Great pike fishing on this beautiful stretch of water where you will experience the wonderful tranquility of this peaceful place. Fishing boat hire is available locally - boat with outboard €35 a day. No fishing permits required. Weekly Deep Sea fishing trips (€50 pperson rods & bait provided) organised locally - all contact details provided.
Gougane Barra Forest Park is located 5km west of Ballingeary on R584 to Bantry, at the Pass of Keimaneigh. The beautiful lake at Gougane is the source of the river Lee. Against a backdrop of rugged mountains, on a little island in the lake is the site of the sixth century hermitage of St. Finbarr. There is a little 19th century chapel on the island and the island itself is linked to the mainland by causeway. One of the most magical places in Ireland!
Car pass to the Forest Park is €5 but access to the lake area is free.
Macroom golf course is the closet course to the house (approximately a 15 minute drive) and, fortunately, one of the best value courses in the county, see the http://www.macroomgolfclub.com website. To get to the course you need to drive through the castle gates in the square in Macroom and carry on down the narrow tarmac drive for approximately one mile. 2011 Rates - Weekend & Bank Holidays €30, Weekdays €25, Early Bird, Tuesday - Thursday before 10.30am €20 (Summer Time Only) . The house owner, a keen golfer, has provided a 5 page Golf Guide full of information about the County's Golf Clubs to help you make the most of a golfing holiday.
Maps are provided of local walks around the village. Local forestry area walks will be greatly appreciated by any dog owners who like to give their dogs the freedom of running off lead; as these forest areas are free of farming livestock.

Guestbook for Bahati
Hi Mike,
We found the house to be very comfortable, spacious and well equipped for our purposes.
I would recommend and possibly advise others of the breakfast and other meals available in the factory shop opposite. It is walking/crawling distance from the house and useful in an emergency. It is also reasonably priced by Ireland's standards.
It was an ideal location for exploring the south west of Ireland and return to rest our weary legs in the evening. Please convey our thanks to Colette for meeting us so late on our arrival on the Thursday night and leaving some essentials in the fridge. This was a nice gesture. I would certainly recommend it to others.
Regards
Paul M - Liverpool, UK
Mike,
Just wanted to let you know what a wonderful time we had in Inchigeelah. House was wonderful and Colette was lovely and extremely helpful.
kindly,
