Hele Bay is set in a small cove in an area of outstanding beauty, a short drive from the Victorian town of Ilfracombe. The beach is a safe haven for families with young children and their pets, with many rock pools to investigate. Small boats can be launched from the bay slipways. Shops, café and public houses (family eateries) are within a short walk. Hele is adjacent to Hillsborough Nature Reserve.

For the more adventurous, Hele Bay is perfect for sailing, canoeing, windsurfing and hiking – a nature lover’s paradise.

Mole’s Farm Cottage is a perfect getaway. Enter the beautiful, beamed cottage on the ground floor to a quaint dining area with seating for four. The character-filled kitchen is well-equipped with microwave, small fridge, separate freezer unit, toaster, oven and coffee machine for those early morning aromas. A clothes airer is also available.

North Devon is one of the most beautiful areas of the British Isles. It boasts miles of unspoilt and award winning beaches. The coastline is one of the most popular surfing venues in the country, with Croyde being the most popular.

The coastline is as rugged as it is beautiful dotted with magnificent cliffs, tiny cove and picturesque harbours. It was once the haunt of smugglers, pirates and wreckers and the fascinating history is retold in many small museums along the coast. Today visitors who love Henry Williamson's famous Tarka the Otter can retrace Tarka's journey by following the Tarka Trail.

Along the coastline surrounding a natural harbour is Ilfracombe with its Victorian architecture, Esplanade and famous Tunnels Beach. The harbour is always busy with fishing boats sailing in and out together with the paddle steamer Balmoral which offers day trips to Lundy Island. North Devon has something to offer and appeal to everyone.

There are activities available for all ages. For children there are fun attractions such as 'The Big Sheep' and 'Dinosaur World'. For the sports fan, there is golf, horse riding, cycling, surfing, kayaking, rock climbing and many other activities all within a 40 minute drive from Barnstaple, the region's major town.

How to get there

Fly to Exeter or Bristol. Main line trains to Exeter with connections to Barnstaple. Regular bus service from Barnstaple to Ilfracombe. National Express coach service to Ilfracombe.

By car M4/A303- M5 Junction 27- A361 Barnstaple, continue to Ilfracombe take A399 and turn onto B3230. Carry on through Ilfracombe, over Chamber Coombe hill into Hele Bay.

The bedroom is tastefully furnished in calm blue and white colours with a large double bed and amazing views over the countryside. The bathroom has a full-sized bath with shower-over unit, WC and basin.

Heating and electricity is inclusive in the weekly tariff. Up to 2 dogs are welcome – please note that there is a £10 charge per dog. A travel cot and high chair are available on request (£5 ea usage fee applies). Bath and beach towels can be hired. Changeover day is Saturday.
