The West Country region

Activities are plentiful in North Devon. An ideal base for coastal walks along the Tarka trail and the South West Coastal path, beautiful beaches, cream teas, stunning coastline and quaint fishing villages. There is something for all ages including boat trips to Lundy Island, surfing at Woolacombe or Croyde and canoeing / kayaking along the rugged coast. Lynton and Lynmouth water powered funicular railway, Appledore and Instow and Clovelly with it's cobbled steep village setting right on the coast.

Exmoor and Dartmoor are both easily accessible by car and there is plenty for the family including the Big Sheep, Watermouth Castle and karting, bowling and swimming in and around the Barnstaple area.

The harbour and promenade areas of Ilfracombe have a lot to offer including crazy golf, the aquarium, boat trips from the Harbour, a number of pubs and restaurants offering stunning sea views and good food.

In addition to the bronze sculpture by Damien Hirst, 'Verity' is in the company of numerous art galleries in the area and Damien Hirst's own restuarant 'The Quay' on the Harbour.

Children can explore and go rock pooling in Hele Bay, Tunnels Beach or a few minutes drive away at Lee Bay. Horse riding, Clay pigeon shooting and Quad biking are all available nearby. There are numerous golf courses in the region. Tours of a local brewery can be arranged and kayaks, canoes and bikes are available to hire nearby.
